Wow this is becoming my fav thread!

Here are my greens on Whitelines Link - scanned via their app

Also, TheRealScubaSteve says I must include a picture of a "Real" Swatch. Here is Nicolas Hayek, president of the watch company, Swatch.

:D I missed this thread until now. Here's the only two I have cataloged so far. Blue Steel looks blue in the photo, but more green than turquoise in person.

DIAMINE EMERALD - A good all round green. I don't like the colour at all though, too vivid (you know me, chalky & murky) but I use this a lot in mixes to liven things up.

http://www.taskyprianou.com/fpn_epinard_nc_swatch.jpg

SAILOR EPINARD - Hmm. People rave about his but I'm not a fan of it's colour. Rarely used. Lives in the drawer of shame. Shame.

http://www.taskyprianou.com/fpn_kwzi_no52_defo_swatch.jpg

KWZI PEA GREEN - Such an unusual but beguiling colour. So easy on the eye and calm to view. My swatch doesn't do it justice. It's a dream to use in any pen.

http://www.taskyprianou.com/fpn_noodlers_bhurma_road_brown_swatch.jpg

NOODLER"S BHURMA ROAD BROWN - Brown? Really? I really like this ink. Fab for sketching and wished it was easier to get hold of in the UK.

http://www.taskyprianou.com/fpn_noodlers_zhivago_swatch.jpg

NOODLER"S ZHIVAGO - Another much raved about ink that I can't get on with. Too green in the wash, not green enough in the line. Great for mixing though and a 1:1 with Helianthus makes a fab MB Daniel Defoe looky likey.

http://www.taskyprianou.com/fpn_rk_alt_goldrun__swatch.jpg

ROHRER & KLINGNER ALT GOLDRUN - Much loved by others but I don't like using it. Not dark enough. Great in mixes though as it's quite complex.

http://www.taskyprianou.com/fpn_sailor_deep_in_the_mountains_swatch.jpg

SAILOR DEEP IN THE MOUNTAINS - Thanks Sinistral1. Another corking, complex Sailor ink.

http://www.taskyprianou.com/fpn_sailor_tanna_japonesis_swatch.jpg

SAILOR TANNA JAPONENSIS - To me, a much nicer ink than it's predecessor EPINARD.

http://www.taskyprianou.com/fpn_salamander_swatch.jpg

DIAMINE SLAMANDER - Thanks migo984. This is my daily carry ink and just the right amount of murkiness for me - although I've been known to add a drop or two of HELIANTHUS to liven it up a little.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
