Nice

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

If you have Salix, try mixing the two, they are terrific together.

I wanted to see how the Monteverde Purple (my first ink by that manufacturer —with "ITF Technology®"!) compared to the KZW Gummi Berry:

I think the park is probably cooler.

I am counting down until next year when they open HP world in Cali. We will definitely take a family vacation there! :D

A vintage ink that deserves attention. It dries very light, but it's a lovely shade.

A bit brighter and more saturated is J. Herbin's Violette Pensée. In terms of hue and tint, almost identical to the scented Violette, and since the scent reminds me of my mother's perfume from when we were little, I'll go with the scented version. Thanks for sharing, Cindy!

The scented J. Herbin Violette has a terribly pale colour. It feathers a ton. And that smell is overwhelming. I dumped it before finishing a converter of it. After a few weeks and several other inks, the pen still smells of that Violette. It's like a lingering nightmare.

Well, that's what makes us all different. I love the scent, and I love the color. Sorry it didn't work for you. It's one of my all-time favorites...

I know people love and hate the Pelikan Edelstein series of inks, but I have had mostly excellent experiences with the colors I've tried.

The 2015 ink is probably my favorite so far: Amethyst. I LOVE this ink.

Just exactly right in so many ways. The one thing I'll need to check on is 1) whether it fades in sunlight, and 2) if it stains celluloid pens. I'm getting the sense that it may be a stainer, but I'll need to investigate that a bit further.

Correct me if I am wrong, isn't the regular J.H. Violette Pensee better behaved and more saturated than the scented version? I used to have it . . . it too has a scent of violets but it is subtle, not overpowering at all.

One of my favorite inks ~ Monteverde Purple.

It is more vibrant in real life. I can not seem to catch the beauty of this ink on the screen...it is gorgeous. Get a sample, you may fall in love like I did....

Nice demonstration of the ink. That's pretty close to the color I see on paper!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
