Inky T O D - Color Swatches - Violet - Purple - Please Post Your Pictures And Tell Us Your Thoughts

I fell in love with this ink when I saw Saskia_Madding's writing samples of it, so I was excited to receive my bottle this weekend. I usually don't like purple for a full page of notes, but this one is the exception. I've been playing with the ink all day and there's something about the color and the flow that has me hearing Nina Simone singing "I put a spell on you," so I figured why not :P I know Sailor already has an Ink of the Witch for Bung Box, but I think this Black Purple that they made for SankoDo is the witchy winner in my book :)

No Diamine Grape????

Grape and I had a fight - grape won. So I don't play with grape anymore.

The violets that I have on hand are below. I like red-violet much more than blue-violet, so my selection is weighted on that side of the spectrum.

lgsoltek:

Your ink splatters are quite artistic! I love the way you show the special properties of these inks!

Thank you. I find the splashes show the inks as more saturated and bring out their sheen (if there is). They may not reflect the real writing experience but I like these rich colours!

A very nice lilac colored ink from de Atramentis. I love the color, but it smells like a cross between fabric softener and disinfectant. Not my favorite scent --from an ink company that I like very much. Oh well, they can't all be winners...

I like using Purple Wumpum despite all it's feathering and Ink of Witch is looking fab in my new Preppy 0.2mm which perfectly shows of it's colour by not laying down too dark a line.

I'm embarrassed to say that I've fallen out of love with Scabiosa. No idea why. It's not in any pen and ot calling to me at the moment.

Your wampum is much lighter and grayer than my wampum. Must be the effect of using a glass pen.

Love Sacbiosa and, for some reason have a soft spot for Purple Wumpum. Hardly ever use the other two though.

I just got a bottle of R&K Scabiosa today. I think I must not have it in the right pen. The way it looks to me is really quite dull and drab. I was hoping for a more classic mauve, but it just seems to lie flat on the paper. Maybe an iron gall thing?

Are there certain kinds of pens that you'd suggest for this particular ink?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
