Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

These two are pretty close - although the Stipula seems a touch more vibrant.

I really like Diamine Lavender. Trying to justify to myself getting a bottle. I have so many purple inks...but it is just so pretty.....

From one of my reviews:

Comparison of

1. SBRE Brown

2. Diamine Terracotta

3. Diamine Brandy Dazzle w/o particles

4. Diamine Brandy Dazzle w/ particles

SBRE Brown is more brown (less red) than the others. I am sure that unless side by side people wouldn't know. ;)

I was upset I did not get SBRE Brown... now, I am not upset anymore...

Thanks Lgsoltek.. :D

I think they are spot on. I find scanners are good at showing the differences, but didn't have time to scan them.

The pic might make them look more similar than naked eye due to the yellow cast of the fluorescent lighting. In any case... they are very similar. So, if you ever wanted Sheaffer's Kings Gold... just grab a bottle of MB Gold.. :D :D

Liquid gold! What a nice bright color for the damp and dreary day we have here in Indianapolis today! Thanks for the comparison!

Yeah, but not all of them will have the same sheen. I was capturing not only the color but the sheen.

Is a great list... and I am sure some will have a very similar "green/gold" sheen.

Ah yes, the sheen. Your pic is lovely.

At least 7 on that list have similar sheen, four of those are as sheeny as oku-yama & pomegranate. Grenade (I didn't include it as I was just showing current inks) has more sheen than any of them, apart from SPP, from my experience.

REALLY??... I need to get my Grenade out. IMO.. Pomegranate has the most extreme sheen. Sometimes is just sheen.. you can't see the ink... :D

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
