My sample cards so far. I've got about half done.

WOW

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

That is the most visual means of use and comparison I have seen yet; wonderful!

Thanks, Stevesurf! How sweet of you to say that! Awwww...

Wow, amazing! I never thought to put the date on my labels, much less the ambient temperature and all the rest. I wonder how much more information I can get on those 1/2" diameter stick-on labels...?

I have 2 packs of Muji cards ready to do this sort of thing but haven't got around to it.

Highly addictive - and sadly really lovely to look through whilst having a coffee by the window when it's raining . . .

Phew, no need to add another onto my list. I have some MVBB and like it a lot.

Thanks.

Having had loads of free time over the holidays (which is about to come to an abrupt end) I've gone through all of my inks and swatches.

The only real dopplegangers I own in terms of appearance are ESSRI and Akkerman No 10.

http://www.taskyprianou.com/fpn_essri_swatch.jpghttp://www.taskyprianou.com/fpn_akkerman_10_swatch.jpg

Whilst they look near identical their behaviour is different. Akkerman seems to flow a little easier in some of my pens than the ESSRI. In others I sometimes really can't tell which is which.

Loving this thread.

Thanks so much Tas... I took time off during the Holidays... but I had family visiting, so really not much free time... :P

I want to get back to this thread... have a few nice ones to add. I guess, I need to go back to work to finally have some time to myself....

The rich Montblanc Lavender is difficult to source within Australia - is there a substitute? Anything even close?

The closest one I was able to find in my stash is KWZI #18.... surprisingly, even the sheen is very similar.. (click on it to open a larger size)

The Famous Racing Green.... I digged out all my murkiest grayest inks... and this is the scan...

Some of them looked more similar in real life than on the scan.. All of them will do quite nicely if you don't have Racing Green and want a nice dark luscious green... :puddle:

Cyber6, thanks for that excellent match for Montblanc Lavender.

The problem is that I've never seen KWZI ink in Australia, we are starved for choice here, that's why it's so intriguing to read ink reviews on FPN. We can order inks online from the UK or USA but the shipping costs are high.

Well - the best thing to do is to organize group buy - it helps to cut shipping cost a lot.

Took delivery of a gorgeous ink this morning. Octopus Schwarz. Yummy.

This now brings my doppleganger total to two. I think it's close enough . . . B)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
