Namiki Raden Line Question

So, I've been checking a lot of Raden pens recently, and found that I like the Yukari Nightline series very much due to the raden distribution and the sprinkled gold dust patterns.

After much searching the net, the current version being marketed was not much to my taste due the ''black lines'' across the Raden which I felt detracted from the patterns,

I've been looking for this particular version, but I can't seem to find a name or model number per se, just that it's an older edition of the pen, which makes looking for it a bit hard.

And there's even a nicer one here, on the right, which i'm told is from the 70s era !

So I was wondering if anyone knows a good resource to look up this particular line from Namiki-Pilot ? Help a fpn-er find a grail pen ! The 70s one really caught my eye...

I think that the earlier version was called the Nightline, while the later version was dubbed the Nightline Moonlight.

Don't know where you might find one though.

Mmmm...lovely pen. I'd love one of Nakaya's many raden designs but I am afraid that they will always be very much beyond my means. It's nice to have somethng to dream about, though...:)

You might be lucky finding the discontinued version of the Nightline on the second hand market. You could post a WTB add on Classifieds. You'll probably need some patience though.

If it's the combination of raden and gold sprinkles you like you could check if you like some other, still available pens.

Wasn't the Namiki Yozakura Raden discontinued some time ago? I've been trying to get one of them, but all I can say is that I haven't been successful.

Oops Exlaminis, I didn't know that. I was just running a quick google search and there seemed to be a few shops carrying it so I thought it was still available.

I'm pretty sure though there are quite a few other pen models featuring raden and gold sprinkles. If all else fails you could always get a custom Nakaya in that style, I should think?

There is a raden/gold dust pen you could also consider: the Platinum Aurora. However, I think it, too, has been discontinued.

Another beautiful raden pen, but yes, sadly it's discontinued.

I do like the Nakaya models, they are as you said, pricey. The Milky Way is on the more affordable side and let me tell you its a big pen, and looks nicer than the photos...managed to handle one when I went to Mora Styles in Paris awhile back.

I will give classfields a shot ! Makes you wonder what pens we purchase today will be the ones highly sought after in the years to come..good idea about the custom Nakaya too ! Though I'm sure they'd break the bank, will have to give them a budget to work with :lticaptd:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
