What Is This?

Hello all,

I have this pen ready to sell but I really don't know anything about it. Does anyone have an idea what price I could ask?

Here are the things I know:

- The brand is Cross

- It is a black ladies ballpoint

- It was bought in England, probably in the 60's or 70's

- It has the Original box including the warranty / instructional book

- It has the Original sticker from the first owner

It was a pen my sister inherited from her english grandmother.

I will attach a few photos.

Any information or guidelines for a price is welcome!

Thanks you very much in advance!

I don't now, but it's definitely more than jar states. More like 50+. But don't take my advice too seriously, I have never handled a problem like this. Good luck :)

Well, in the '60-70's the thin matt black and gold Cross Ball point cost $8-10 real silver dollars.

I had gone into a PX with more money than common sense to buy one....the then top of the line status for normal folks ball point.

I looked at it, drifted over to stare at a black and Gold Snorkel, was mugged by the P-75 brothers....some $22 for the fountain pen and a whole $18 silver dollars for the P-75 BP/MP.

If I'd been satisfied with a Parker Jotter, I'd never bought those two pens. The P-75 BP was being silver a whole class higher than the Cross black and gold ball point.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

The cheapest lessons are from those who learned expensive lessons. Ignorance is best for learning expensive lessons.

I bought a Cross Century ballpoint pen for a friend, which was from the 1960s. Like yours had the box and everything. Like Jar said, I paid a total of $22.00 which included $5.00 in S&H fees. I got it off eBay. Yeah, people try to get a lot more for these USA made Cross pens, but they are worth the prices that Jar had stated.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
