It's a pity you lawyer-folk in the States don't dress properly for court. I would love to see you in wig, gown and gold spangly shoes...

Now, I thought I might like the Monkey Hanger ink, but it seems to be a slightly darker version of the sadly-discontinued Noodler's Aquamarine.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Sailor Jentle Blue

Quite nice reddish sheen... Makes the ink look a bit purple in some light.

Errant, thank you for posting!

Cobalt is a great color and my friend, Lapis, adores this ink. It has never seemed to work well in Las Vegas, but I wish it did.

Yes, Levenger Cobalt is a spectacular blue, and as a fan of blues I adore it. But it is a very thick ink that smudges on paper, even after the ink is dry. So my quest for the perfect blue continues.

Private Reserve Lake Placid Blue. Interesting, it is darker than DC Supershow Blue. I thought it was the other way around.

It looks like turquoises go in here along with the other blues, so here we go.

Sheaffer Turquoise (I think it is officially called "Peacock Blue"). I have had this bottle for several years, so it is likely not a "new" batch made in Slovenia.

Pilot Varsity Turquoise (from a Varsity disposable pen)

Lamy Turquoise (for me, still the king of turquoise inks)

Noodler's Turquoise

Caran d'Ache Turquoise-Green - It appears this color is no longer produced. At least Goulet Pens doesn't seem to carry it.

Great additions! Thank you. Feel like doing a CRV? I have some sheets with Sheaffer Peacock blue that are great to compare to modern Sheaffer Turquoise.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

My bottle is the old Sheaffer Peacock Blue/Turquoise. Do you have the new?

I've never done a CRV before, this could be fun. I could put the rest of my turquoises on there, along with Diamine Tropical Blue, which is a bright blue that goes right up to the doorstep of turquoise.

I found an old bottle. My original bottle ended up mixed with another color. I just mailed out a stack of CRVs, but if you are up to it, I'll send you letters.

Lamy Blue - It looks more exciting in the scan, than it does in real life.

Aurora Blue - Aurora makes only two inks, but they're both winners. This is my favorite purplish blue ink, and a go-to ink for my pens.

Thanks for these blues, errant. The Noodler's Turquoise is really nice. My Slovene Skrip Turquoise is definitely darker than your sample here, it's closer to the Varsity.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Yes, I agree on Noodler's Turquoise. I really love the hue of Lamy Turquoise, but Noodler's Turquoise is actually a more serious writing ink because of its darker hue.

Diamine Blue Velvet. I purchased several blue ink samples, looking for a "pure" blue without too many hints of purple. I like this one a lot.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
