Any Interest In A Phoenix, Az Meet Up?

**(I saw that there was a area for local clubs I'm not sure if that gets as much views as this post so if the admin would like to change it that's fine but I would like to leave at work it's attention)**

Hello, I'm Treyy and I would like to know if there's any interest in having a Phoenix meet up to get together and meet each other, and compare pens, or anything else pen related. If so, would a weekday lunch work or would a weekend be preferred?. Please let me know here and I hope to find enough interest to have the get together.

It seems like us AZ peeps are in short supply on here, or pretty quiet. I would love to met other FP freaks for sone pen ogling/chatting. With the hectic schedules we might have to shoot for a decent date right after Thanksgiving. I live in Chandler but have transpo and have every Weds off as well as every other weekend. I am totally down for a meet!

I'd imagine there's some sort of pen club in Phoenix, no?

There is one in Dallas led by Mike Walker, very nice guy. I found out about it at the Paradise pen store here, so maybe you could find out at a pen store if there's one near you.

Best of luck at your meet ups, take care!:)

I'm not in Phoenix anymore, but before I left I met up with FPNer Troy ("Tringle") and we had a bunch of pen-fun, you should message him; he expressed interest in this a short while back.

Count me in folks, I'm in PV (Tatum 'n Shea), but will travel anywhere. I'm on the road a great deal, but name the time/place :)

I'd have to drive down from Prescott for a meet, but would be willing to do so if there is going to be a good-sized gathering. As such, a central or northern metro area would be appreciated. I could even host a meetup here in the summer at some point to give you all a chance to escape the heat, if you're interested. There are enough AZ based people on FPN that I think it could turn into something. I recall that Chatterley (Bryant) offered to attend a get together when it was discussed in the past (there is another thread in the 'meetings' section where this has been previously floated out there as an idea). EDIT: couldn't find it, so maybe I am not remembering correctly...

A weekend would be preferable for me (I work), though I can probably swing a Friday as well, with some advance notice.

I'll keep watching this thread.

  • 5 weeks later...

There has been some discussion at several pen shows about trying for some Arizona pen get togethers, perhaps rotating them in various parts of Arizona quarterly to make it easier for people to come from various parts of the state. Tucson does have a group of pen people that get together. I'd be willing to host if anyone wants to meet up in Kingman sometime in January, but it would have to be a Saturday or Sunday because too crazy during the week.

Editing to add that you may just want to email me if interested because I don't get to this forum as often as some! sam@pendemonium.com

In the event someone monitors this, Karas Kustoms will be hosting a pen meetup at our shop this Saturday, October 22nd, 6-9 pm. All are welcome, beverages and snacks will be available. You can check out our blog for more information and an RSVP form. There will not be any sales conducted during the pen meet up, rather we are trying to facilitate a meeting for people that like pens.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
