Vintage Platignum Converter?

An accident on fleabay ended with this interesting pen on my lap. From what I can gather, this is a vintage Platignum that takes out-of-production cartilages (don't even know the model).

Does anyone know where I can get a converter for this pen? Help much appreciated!

Don't know about the converter but there appears to be nothing wrong with the cartridge. Why not clean the pen, fill the cartridge, and give it a go?

Enjoy,

Yours,
Randal

From a person's actions, we may infer attitudes, beliefs, --- and values. We do not know these characteristics outright. The human dichotomies of trust and distrust, honor and duplicity, love and hate --- all depend on internal states we cannot directly experience. Isn't this what adds zest to our life?

Have you tried a standard international cartridge? Sometimes different formats may fit. Some people use Lamy converters in Parker pens.

I have a modern Platignum. It doesn't take a standard international cartridge. The narrow neck section of the Platignum cartridges (which look identical to the old one you have) is longer than the standard international size. Cult pens sell a Platignum converter on their website (£3.60) and also the Platignum brand cartridges. I was told that Manuscript converters (50P) also fit Platignums. That seems to be the case though I haven't tried to ink my pen yet using such a converter.

Enjoy,

I'm planning to use that for now but cartridges wear out pretty fast, will feel much better if I have at least replacements at hand

I've tired:

  • International long and short
  • parker
  • lamy
  • waterman
  • pilot
  • sheaffer
  • Manuscript

No luck so far :(

The shape of the barrel also makes me think it might work as an eyedropper, too.

Good luck finding a proper converter! Maybe the region-specific forum would be more help?

All else fails, that might be the way I'll go. Thanks for the suggestion on the region-specific forum :D

Modern Platignum converters don't look like the cartridge I have, and I did try a Manuscript :(

Would the sailor converter fit?

I can't get a scale from the picture but it looks similar.

I'm ashamed to say I don't have a Sailor pen (yet), might ask my friends to let me try one, thanks for the suggestion!

And maybe try a Platinum converter. That I think has a smaller hole.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
