I am looking into some nice parchment paper to write all my letters on this holiday season.

I came across this paper from amazon:

Southworth Parchment Specialty Paper, 8.5 x 11 inches, 24 lb, Copper

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0013CKJ7S/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3C0K7J9MKFJSK&coliid=I2MVPM6RABLURW&psc=1

It is $24 for a box of 500 sheets which works out to just under 5 cents a sheet. A great deal!

I have read a few reviews here and there about Soutworth paper in general and some were mixed, some were high. But I couldn't find any specific thread on the Southworth parchment paper.

I was wondering if anyone has tried this paper?

What do you think about it?

Is it fp friendly?

Has anyone seen the copper color in person? How would you describe it? I am hoping it isn't too yellow (like the gold appears) but still has a nice neutral old world look.

Also, I was hoping there might be a generous individual who could send me a sheet (or even half a sheet) to test out? I have a few different papers I would be willing to send to you to try in exchange.

I always prefer to try a product before I buy it. Especially within this hobby - it can be hit or miss sometimes; it is always better for me to test it out first hand to see if it meets my expectations.

I am sure many of you know exactly what I mean!

Thank you to anyone who has any information that they can share with me! I am so blessed to be a part of this community!!! :)

Oh, just say no, it bleeds.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have the same paper (in ivory), and it doesn't bleed at all! Well, not unless you're dropping blobs of ink for a smear test or--heaven forbid--spill a bottle of ink. I find it stands up very well to ink, and use it for making my own journals to do artwork upon it. Recently, I've been using it for flex writing, and have no complaints. I even do watercolor on it. :D

Then again, the box I have is at least 3+ years old, so I'm not sure if the paper qualities have changed at all.

The paper I have doesn't feather either, but the surface is toothsome. I suppose that's the word I would use. It's got a slight texture to it so your writing won't be glassy smooth, but I find it looks rather appealing. As for the color, I used to have some of the copper and it is rather dark, but still handsome. I would recommend the ivory as looking more classy, and able to display a wider range of ink colors. You should be able to find this in pretty much any office supply store, by the way. I got mine at Wal-Mart, and they still carry it. So you can at least see it in person easily enough.

I have the Southworth and the Astroparche. The Astroparche is worse about the bleed through by FAR. Neither feather.

@Ruaidhri This was an absolutely wonderful bit of writing, and I hope that you're able to maintain the style once all of the medications are out of your system.  Take care and recover quickly!

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.

Was that the end of the Laboratory? Somehow the exactitude created a fully destructive device, as always!
