What Is Your Favourite Lamy Safari/ Al-Star Color Ever?

I love the yellow Safari best, because the colour just brightens up everything! That said the Savannah Green also has a special place in my heart, because it was my first Lamy, gifted to me by my late father when I got into university 30 odd years ago. I also adore the purple Al-Star! Then in no particular order I lovelovelove the neon yellow, neon coral, white, and matte charcoal Safaris and the graphite Al-Star.

This one.

Actually it's my only one. I ditched all the others I had as I hate writing with them, but I just loved this colour.....

I love the aluminium colour with the black clip. Was sorry to hear it's being discontinued. I use mine with the 1.1 nib and a brown shaeffer ink to liven long meetings.

Previously I would of said the Ruby Red Al-Star

However, that Neon Yellow Safari really is something else. Picked one up today and it keeps burning my eyes every time I glance at it on my desk

This is my entire collection and I'd have to say I'm partial to the yellow on the left because it was the first one I ever bought. Yet, I'm partial to the last two on the right as they are my most recent purchase. Actually I like 'em all. Lamy makes nice colors.

The lamy 2000 and the Vista transparent with the 1.1 italic nib. Both are so smooth and easy to write with.

I hate - truly despise - orange. And yet, my answer to this question is an unqualified Copper Orange.

After all these months, I guess my original favs changed just a bit, my current favorite colors are:

1. Al-Star coffe (thinking of adding a gold nib to make it ever more appealing)

2. Safari Orange Flame

3. Safari Yellow (current edition)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
