Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

So, what you have are three inks made from red wines and three vintage pens circa the year I graduated from high school also the color of red wines. Thank you LahLahLaw for the pen spa and custom nibs. Thank you Shawndo for the ink samples and thank you Bo Bo for some of those wonderful papers.

As you may have guessed, I love, love, LOVE these colors. I see that Amazon has the deA "Bordeaux" --would you recommend it instead of the Merlot, since the Merlot is hard to find?

I just inked up Pinot Noir. It isn't as dark as the Merlot or Saint Laurent, but buy it now. I am sure these are a limited run and they are wonderful.

Just out of curiosity, are the numbers indicative of the drawing or the number of bottles of ink you have in your collection? :)

Tee Hee Hee.

The number is the scan - so far this year, I've had 1915 pages I've scanned. Once I wash it, it will have the same number but I attach a W. B is fror the back.

I'm getting thirsty! That Saint Laurent looks very nice, I think Undurraga Pinot looks like that, or maybe just in the bottle, or maybe I've only had it at night. Always a pleasure to read your reviews.

Tricked throughout the centuries...

For centuries people had been tricked by kings & "religion-alism"

In the 20th century people got tricked by communism

Today people get tricked by (neo)capitalism :)

I just received a bottled of the De Atramentis Bordeaux Red in the mail. It is WONDERFUL. I have it in a pen that is a great everyday workhorse pen, but it doesn't show the complexity and subtlety of this ink. Beautiful rich red. My favorite for today, Halloween!

I am so looking forward to receiving my sample. I think I will prefer this ink to Noodler's BSAR when I try it out.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
