I've since gotten a second bottle of Stormy Grey from a more recent batch and I'm happy to say that the two bottles are very consistent with each other. I'm also part of a Massdrop for two bottles of Stormy Grey and one of Rouge Hematite, so I'll report back on any inconsistencies from that batch.

 

On a side note, a 1:1 mix of the most recent Stormy Grey and Rouge Hematite is amazing. Think Noodler's Red but with sparkles.

 

I have a bottle of this sitting on the counter. I haven't decided which pen would be best for it. A dip pen would certainly eliminate any clogging problems. I would also like to see the combination of the Grey and Rouge. Always looking for interesting ink colors.

This color attracts me on a multiplex of levels. Thanks for the great review. I really enjoy this series of inks.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
