I managed to grab a bottle from BureauDirect too - can't wait to try this! I might have also bought another Lamy Al-Star (an aluminium one) to dedicate to this ink....I adore greys anyway so if I don't like it (highly unlikely) then I'll fill it with something else.

Handy hint: sign up for BureauDirect's email alert service so they notify you as soon as the ink comes back into stock. Then grab it ASAP ;)

UK-based pen fan. I love beautiful ink bottles, sealing wax, scented inks, and sending mail art. Also, thanks to a wonderful custom-ground nib by forum member Bardiir, I'm currently attempting calligraphy after years of not being able to do so due to having an odd pen-grip :D

Finally found a bottle online! MINE MINE MINE! Yes! Grabbed a bottle of Sailor Jentle Oku-Yama to go along with it.

I've just had an email from BureauDirect saying that they are delayed in sending out the Stormy Grey ink due to such high demand....they have run out of stock, so they will refund anyone who has already placed an order and paid if they don't want to wait.

I'm waiting, of course! :) it's a shame as I've been really looking forward to this ink, but BureauDirect are a fab company and I'm hopeful that we won't have to wait much longer. I have my new aluminium Lamy Al-Star flushed and ready to go!

W.O.W, your review (as always) takes my breath away, thank you. I cannot wait for more stock to arrive, it appears everyone grabbed the first shipment from every seller online!

It seems that my Stormy Grey has been lost in the post :'-( I am gutted, it was sent out to me a couple of weeks back apparently. I'm desperate to try this ink and ordered it ages ago! Now I have to wait for it to come back into stock. Jo at BureauDirect seems very helpful but there's little she can do. Waaah :cries:

Beautiful ink (and great review). I ordered mine on the 23rd and it came in today. I'm super excited to start using it!

I got a bottle recently. After seeing this review I'm looking even more forward to it. I think I'll put it in 2 pens, including a Lamy with italic nib and a Visconti back to black Michelangelo M nib.

Thank you for sharing the photos. Your handwriting is gorgeous.

Great review thanks. I am getting a sample in the mail this week. In your opinion, should I use it only in my cheaper pens or is it safe to use in any pen?

Looks really neat. However I think I will wait to hear if people are able to get all the sparkles out of their pen when they get ready to clean this ink out.

I was ready to order a bottle, then I started see some of the pictures of the gold settling out in bottles, and in a pen convertor. I would be concerned about eventual clogging of a feed and a lot of trouble cleaning. It would help to know what the particle size is, if in the colloidal size range it should not be

much of a problem, particles of this size would not separate out much at all, but then might be too small

to give the shimmering visual effect.

I will wait and see what happens after it has been on the market for several months.

Regards

Jeff

I just got mine today :) The bottle is much smaller than the pics depicted, but it is beau-ti-flu! Didn't expect it to be and feel so pretty.

Tomorrow try ink. I think will start with a converter pen and if all goes well then a piston filled one. I so want this ink to behave well and wash out even better so can use in my Montblancs

I've since gotten a second bottle of Stormy Grey from a more recent batch and I'm happy to say that the two bottles are very consistent with each other. I'm also part of a Massdrop for two bottles of Stormy Grey and one of Rouge Hematite, so I'll report back on any inconsistencies from that batch.

On a side note, a 1:1 mix of the most recent Stormy Grey and Rouge Hematite is amazing. Think Noodler's Red but with sparkles.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
