I am super in awe! The only pen there I desperately want and haven't been able to find is the Aurora 88 with silver furniture. I have wanted one for years but they NEVER come up on the secondary market. <sigh>

Just lovely! Thanks for sharing pictures!

Thanks! I had a heck of a time finding the 88 (and it was spendy!) but I've seen a few since, mostly in Japan. This one was purchased from Kingdom Note, which is a pain in the ass to deal with - not only do they not ship internationally, they refuse to accept international credit cards, even though their payment processor supports it. I had to have a friend who lives in Tokyo wire them the money. Still; worth it! Next time I run across another, I'll ping you.

On the Hunt For:

1) Atelier Simoni ID Demonstrator Natural Rhodium (As if it existed.)

2) Moresi 2nd Limited Edition Delta Demonstrator

3) y.y. Pen Club #4 and #10

Totally stealing that Muji box idea!

Use it in good health! Cutting the inserts was a bit of a pain, but in the end the result was worth it.

Yup, it does have a transparent feed. I just looked at it, and there's still ink in it from the last fill that I haven't flushed. I actually have a regular Profit Jr. as well (from Engeika), which also has the clear feed.

Thanks for the heads up! In my collection notes though I have down that all the Bexley Deluxe Demos had two-tone nibs, is that right? I'd be all up for a single-tone white gold/rhodium. Allowing for two-tones would bring in at least a Conklin and one more Sailor as well, but I haven't crossed that bridge yet. If you have an example with a single-tone nib, I would *love* to see it if only for an excuse to start the hunt again!

In your curation rules for my collection are:

- Must be colorless transparent, including a major part of the cap

- Must be monochrome (rhodium, sterling, stainless, aluminum, etc. furniture OK, gold etc. not)

- Must not be a collaboration with a non-pen company (e.g. Porsche, Momo, Lamborghini)

- Must have been available at retail

- No frankenpens/customs (e.g. Edison customs to which there would be no end)

No mention of two-tone nibs being verboten..on the Bexley nib there is a rhodium plated

chevron which would be uncomplicated to remove..or purchase a monotone 14k nib from

R. Binder/J. Mottishaw..Enjoy your demonstrator pens...Take care....

Please do that! I desperately want one. Thanks for the help! Kingdom Note is where I get a lot of inks, so perhaps White Rabbit Express could help me there, if they ever get another one.

Also, tell me about the Sailor Professional Gear Realo Demo Hougado Ltd. Ed. (20). It looks amazing! It looks like a piston filler ... is it? Where did you get it? Enquiring minds want to know!!!! :P

Having finally 'completed' my collection at present (until more are released!) I thought I'd take a moment to share my collection of clear demonstrators, along with a solution for pen storage I haven't seen before that I think works well.

The curation rules for my collection are:

- Must be colorless transparent, including a major part of the cap

- Must be monochrome (rhodium, sterling, stainless, aluminum, etc. furniture OK, gold etc. not)

- Must not be a collaboration with a non-pen company (e.g. Porsche, Momo, Lamborghini)

- Must have been available at retail

- No frankenpens/customs (e.g. Edison customs to which there would be no end)

Without further ado:

The storage is via a combination of the 5-drawer Muji acrylic box (absolutely the perfect size, and appropriate for clear demonstrators in particular) and Gary Lehrer's pen trays, cut to size.

Not quite full, but getting there. The last few pens are my non-demonstrator EDCs.

Hougado (aka Pen Gallery) has lots of custom Sailors. Personally I've also been on the hunt for the two Ramune-bottle colored demos which seem quite special, but it's been years since they sold out, and I haven't seen one on the secondary market even once.

nice selection ;) unless you have boatloads of money then a pfm demonstrator or a 149 demonstrator or a rare 139 demonstrator might be a nice add. I just have a 360 vision Bronze and Ogiva Vision in terms of demonstrators

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

How about the Herbin Eyedropper - not sure if it hits all the criteria!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
