But you don't have to feel naughty for looking. :P

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Isn't that why white lies were invented?

No honey, these were just gifts.

No honey, I just wanted to try it, but I'm going to send it back.

Of course not honey, I've had this pen for ages.

You're an experienced melon? You respond correctly when your Honey says, "Honey, do this" which is not to argue, but get up and do it.

I know that there might be some people who don't love the scent of patchouli, but for those of us who do, De Atramentis' Patchouli ink not only smells great, but looks gorgeous. I don't think the junky cellphone photo really captures the richness of the color (deep red moving into violet and drying like a dark mauve), but here's an idea:

I got a stack of samples yesterday and I'm trying to decide which Diamines to request from Nordic Pen Imports before their final order so I had a big reinking session last night, this is only the half I took to work with me today :D Oh and my Pilot VP arrived from Massdrop (8 days from the US to AU, that must be some kind of record!) so I couldn't resist inking that up straight away.

Iroshizuku Kon-peki - I finally get the fuss, definitely an ink you really have to try in person, it's just a tiny bit brighter than any blue ink Ive tried before whilst looking for a good basic blue.

Diamine Blaze Orange - I love this ink so much, the saturation and shading just make it such fun to write with this ink. It also looks great with blue ink, I've already reeled off a couple of pages in my midori with this colour combo :)

Diamine Meadow - Blah, I prefer Kelly Green which is just a tiny bit brighter and is a little wetter when it writes than Meadow. Oh well, win some lose some.

Diamine Damson - I want to love this ink, it looks great with my coffee brown al star and I love how it looks dry but it's so slow to dry....zzzzzzz

Diamine Sargasso Sea - Can't decide how I feel about this one, the sheen is great but I don't know if I would ever write much with it. Needs to go in a different pen I think.

16% Red Cashmere and the start of a letter from Santa. I think I'm going to dilute it to get a brighter red, though.

Wow. Is Blue Bonnet KWZI #4? I like it. I love DBS - every time I see it I tell myself I should call them for some.

Seeing Attila use Ancient Copper made me buy it and try it for myself. It's probably my favourite reddish colour I've tried to date.http://i61.tinypic.com/jzve51.jpg

Nicely matched color and pen. And the warm colors do look spectacular on cream or ivory paper. Handsome effect!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
