Splendid, indeed. Do post more! :D

You can see more here http://www.janeblundellart.com/ ;)

Just between me and you, I know of one FPN member who succumbed to desire last week and ordered a Pilot 912 with PO nib after seeing the Strelitzia sketch in Jane's blog. I plead guilty for sending him the link to Jane's site and pics of my PO nib :P

Thanks for the link - very nice work. I am rather impulsive, but it'd take a bit more for me to order a pen just from looking at pictures. Perhaps something like a claim of artistic ability when one holds the pen. I'm not quite sure even Pilot is there yet, though. :P

Ha, not me! :D

An atilla84 sketch, a napalm pic and a link to this gorgeous site and I was sold.

Oh, Brad Dowdy had a lot to do with it too.

As for artistic ability, sketching and writing with the 912 PO nib makes you think you're Da Vinnci . . . ;)

In my first fade tests, I did water tests in the center. I discovered that ink that was exposed to water faded faster than the ink that was just exposed to light.

That is depressing. No lightfastnes at all... Edited by Tanzanite

I agree.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Thanks! Love all of those rusty brown tones.

Looks to me like an Ultramarine Blue - Burnt Sienna - Venetian Red combo but after checking Jane's palette it might be "Jane's gray" instead of Ultramarine and some "Lunar Black" added there for granulation.

Hi Jane, we're color junkies here too  Welcome to FPN!!!

I love colour junkies :-) There are a couple of wonderful pigments for rust effects that I use a lot. One is a PR101 Transparent Red Oxide (Daniel Smith watercolour) - a granulating burnt orange. That sketch has a lot of Burnt Umber and yes, Jane's Grey. I want to find that in a waterproof fountain pen ink...but may have to make my own as I do in watercolour.

Cheers,

Jane

I got this bottle of ink free of charge when I ordered 2 bottles of Organics Studio inks. I'm not usually a fan of bright green, but this ink is captivating, like an emerald. Also, it has an interesting fragrance! It smells like the soap aisle at a grocery store

I adore the texture you're getting on the bottom of this. A really nice buildup of washes.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
