Hard Cover Composition Books Made In Brazil...

I was picking up some nice Staples copy paper (see another post for details on this) and stumbled upon a hard back composition book with paper made in Brazil...for only $1. I picked up a couple as I need a hard back for the wet days here in Oregon.

I grabbed a red and a black cover and are wide ruled (I may sneak back and grab a couple more, but I have a plethora of Brazilian books and I am risking a grumpy -but amazing -wife).

I found the paper in the Brazil comp books to be inconsistent.

The quality from page to page varies, in fact the quality on a single page can vary.

It seems that the comp books are made with the rejects from the spiral bound notebooks, because I don't have any of that problem with the spiral bound notebooks.

I have the inconsistency in all kinds of Brazilian paper types. The only difference is that some have a lot while some may have less and this inconsistency occurs quite randomly. I still use them because they are usable for the price value. The paper is great for nibs that go up to B. However, I wont use the paper with a semi flex/ flex nib. The flex nib, especially with vintage feed is just too much for the thin paper to handle. I still need to look for my affordable Rhodia replacement.
