Which Sailors are you using? Which one do you love best? Which nib is your favorite? Do you own specialty nibs? Which Sailor inks are you using? Are you waiting for a Sailor in the post? Basically anything about the Sailors you own.

This is the only Sailor I own. It is approximately 17 years old. The only name I know for it is tortoise shell. It writes very nicely and smoothly but I don't have it inked today.

Never owned one, Never really wanted one, but let me take a wild guess. It's your favorite brand???? ;)

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

Currently have this one inked. A rhodium-trimmed Sailor Pro Gear Realo demonstrator with a 21k FM Naginata nib & very smart navy blue trim to the section, piston knob and cap end.

I prefer the squared-off Pro Gear shape to the rounded cigar-shape of the 1911 Classic series. I like the piston fill mechanism too; it's very smotth.

I have filled it with Sailor Jentle Souten blue, because it reminds me of a summer sky. I have well over 40 Sailor inks in total. It is my favourite brand of inks by far.

A 1911L with MF nib is a daily use pen for me. Usually it's inked with Sailor Blue-Black (cartridges), but right now I have a converter in it with Edelstein Tanzanite.

1911 L realo met F nib or even EF.

Throughout the years i realised that sailor nibs of the 1911 range are not the smoothest , due to a specific design of the nib point.

The small platform on the point , makes the nib rather unforgiving compared to other brands. In the beginning I hated this effect , but now appreciate it.

Today I'm using three Sailors:

I. Sailor PG Slim (Sapporo) in my shirtpocket for writing notes while travelling.

II. Sailor PG Realo for meeting-notes.

III. Sailor PG Naginata-togi NMF, just for the fun of writing with it!

1911L Medium with PR Sonic blue right now. Been thinking of adding either another 1911L or Progear with an NMF nib. Looks like a really interesting nib that could be fun to write with.

Seriously considering a full size 1911 black with rhodium trim. Is it worth the extra expense to purchase from a reputable nibmaster or should I take my chances with the wider market?

I have been using the Sailor "calligraphy" pen with the 55-degree fude de mannen nib, and I love it. Here's my review of it:

http://tina-koyama.blogspot.com/2014/06/pen-update-still-dancing-with-sailor.html

I'm not fond of the cheesy plastic body and the trim ring that keeps falling off when I post it, however, so I'm ready to upgrade to a "real" Sailor. Am now on the hunt for one and will consider any body (better than the one I have) as long as it has that fantastic nib. Am even willing to wait five months for that nib, which is apparently how long it takes to order one.

The only one I own, a 40-year-old 21 Pocket Pen with Nano Black in cartridges. A nice, smooth writer.

Holy MOLEY! How could I not know that there was a Realo demonstrator....

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
