Hi everyone

 

After a hiatus of a good few years, I am returning back to the forum. I've missed you. While I have been away, I have been using my FPs every single day, but things have changed a bit in my life.

 

Over the last couple of years I have moved about four times (now living in central Manchester UK, which is very cool) and have set up my own business (which is also cool). You won't be surprised to learn that my business is around writing and my new logo incorporates a fountain pen. I'll post a picture when I get the image files back from the designer.

 

I can see things have evolved a little bit as well on the forum. Things look slightly different and there are a lot of new faces in amongst the old friends. I say hello to all of you and look forward to many chats and discussions about our favourite topics of pens, paper and ink.

Welcome back - and I hope you still have that cocoa 51.

Hi Beechwood... I never got the Cocoa in the end. I had a lovely turquoise one that somebody destroyed the nib on when I let them borrow it. It was a devastating experience because the nib was a perfect left oblique broad that could have been made for me in mind!

 

Lesson: be careful who you let try out your vintage pens!

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
