Okay, I am not crazy!!! (That is also a subjective statement, thus y'all better behave,lol!)

 

I have a plain, black, steal nibbed Wasp pen, but there is no lever, no plunger, no anything! The back pointy section unscrews. The stamping on the pen says Wasp Pen Co., Inc. Ft. Madison, Iowa, U.S.A.

 

So, is this an eye dropper? Is this something from a desk pen set and I need to find a base? I cannot find anything on this very basic pen, so I'm turning to the experts. Well, and you guys, too! :P

 

I guess my question is...how do I fill the dang thing!? There is a very tiny hole by the impression on the barrel, so not sure if my father and brother gutted this pen for some weird McIver project they always did as kids and parts are missing, or if all the parts are there.

So, what's your point?

The tail suggest a desk pen. Perhaps it is a dip pen, with a deskset with ink-reservoir where the pen rests in when not in use?

 

There have been some on show here lately, I forgot which sub forum. They were called client pens (no use for the client to take the pen with them....)

 

I have one by Esterbrook myself.

W. A. Sheaffer Pen came in Vacuum Fil and Addipoint a lever filler with user changeable steel nibs.

 

I'm not familiar with your pen..which could be a marriage of different parts...

You don't fill it and it indeed goes with a reservoir set.

This is a fineline model from 1946 but, they all worked the same by occasionally dipping the pen in the reservoir.

It doesn't hold ink inside; it goes with a base that has a large ink reservoir that keeps the point moist (the "Rite-O-Way" set).

Oh, wow...I'll never find that base! (Pretty ugly, lol.) Guess using it as a dip pen as I have been will continue for awhile! It actually writes very nice!!!!

Daniels ad is circa 1940. Sheaffer had their own Fount-of Use reservoir line in 1941 which were attractive and very expensive. Gold nibs on these instead of the WASP steel nibs.

I'm not opposed to this staying a dip pen, lol.

It is expensive considering that it is missing the screw on top so you are only getting part of the base.

Tastes differ. I really love that shape in the ad....

 

And indeed the set offered in the link Daniel gave is not complete.

 

But you can make an offer! Point out that the top is missing but that you are willing to pay....XXX...

I did, they still want $23. Plus the shipping. I'll pass for now. No action on it currently. Didn't seem to care that the cover is missing.

 

In real life, the piece in the ad may look much better. Hard to tell. I just don't have much deco stuff.

I will buy one WASP vacu fill one day. Great pen

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
