Identification Help For This Sheaffer

Hi Friends,

It is really difficult to get hold of old Sheaffer's here in India. Like minded people do not want to part ways with them, ignorant people treat them as pieces of trash.

It's my good fortune that I came across an old sheaffer, which looks to me like an Imperial , but I am sure I am wrong, as it's not a touchdown, but looks like a C/C. But the Converter (if it IS a C/C), is unlike anything I saw in Sheaffer converters in my limited experience.

I am attaching one of the few pictures that the seller has sent, which contain all parts.

The thing is, I have my birthday coming up this 26th and would like to treat myself to this beauty, if it happens to be a decent one (Can't afford a good one, let alone excellent! )

Any idea on the model & what the price should be ?

P.S. I have no idea about the nib grade, but have asked the seller about the same.

If this really is a lady sheaffer 727 (it certainly looks like it !), then I have to pass it on. :(

I have 2 imperials (new, steel nibs), a 300 and a prelude, not counting a couple of No-Nonsense.

All are wonderful, wet writers (I can swear the 300 writes BB with wet inks ), but all are C/C. :( Maybe this is a Squeeze converter.

So the search for a touchdown continues.

@Vikrambedi, I was thinking around 2K INR.. My location is Pune.

Lady Sheaffer, Stylist - all related. With this style nib I think that it would be a Stylist, though I have no means to verify. It is indeed a standard squeeze converter, so can be used as a C/C pen, and the new twist converter will work. Some of us still have the squeeze converters with the red end VS black, which means that it has a synthetic sac instead of latex.

Sheaffer made a couple of different sections that fit into the pen. This style came with steel, gold plated and 14K nibs depending on the model. They had one with a 180 style nib, and one (used in the Lady Sheaffer) a finger-tip style nib. I also have a couple of sections with a fiber feed, and one that has a fiber (felt) tip.

Nice pens if the plating is still in good shape.

Thanks Ron, the seller just mailed me & said and I quote:

"Manufacturer: Sheaffer

Model: Stylist
Pattern: Vertical Lines
Type: Fountain Pen
Clip: Gold Plate, with White Dot
Circa: 1970
Filling System: Squeeze Converter

Nib Imprint: "SHEAFFER 14K Made in USA
Nib Size: M
Cap & Barrel Material: 12K Gold Filled

Cap Imprint: 12k Gold Filled SHEAFFER "

How much do you think it should cost ? Though I really want a TD/Snorkel for my B'day, it's good to know it's worth, so that if I really feel the whim later on, I can reach out. :D

Given the condition not a heck of a lot. It looks like there's some damage to the section, and the plating doesn't look all that impressive. But it could also be the crummy picture. It baffles me that many sellers don't understand that a good picture sells pen, even if the pen isn't in great shape it lets the buyer make informed judgements, and they might be willing to buy your pen even though it has "issues." It might be that it just has some schmutz on it, but again I can't tell from the picture.

The section is not a deal breaker though if the rest of the pen is OK - I have a bag full of them in various colors. The nib unit just unscrews, though you'd want to replace the doughnut seal around the piercing tube at the end of the feed.

Not always the case. Note even usually the case. But sometimes, yes. It just depends on the individual pen and model.

The culprit is a Sheaffer 300 in blue marble swirl. (I'm positive I pasted photos here in FPN..)
Any remedy other than sending it to a nibmeister ? (tried sqeezing the tines with nails, carefully! )

Oh.. hang on, are there any nibmeisters in India ?

damn, I myself am deviating from the topic .. :(

Not sure if this has been suggested already but would a setting for localized regions or chapters in FPN be helpful? I don't know if there is a way to find local FPN members who would be nearby. I don't know if we want to be discoverable but a setting to know how many members are in 25, 50, or a 100 miles of each other might be helpful. We can create a regions specific network like Craigslist where people could use that to connect with nearby members, conduct in person sales, arrange FPN meetups

Hi again all, I forgot to tell y'all that I made the post about Sweden ink PIF. Most have probably found it long ago, but here's a link, anyway:

I read your blog post and all the replies with much interest. I'm a FP user in Australia. Been part of this forum for years but rarely post. I did come across your ink sharing thread and considered participation. For me it's not lack of interest but lack of time to play around with FP and inks. I'd feel bad to put my hand up for the box and just have it sit until gosh knows when...   I also think that the FP community in Australia is smaller, and I wonder how many in the community are

Even so, you'd end up with a fragmented list, and it becomes an O(N²) process for each prospective requestor to check what is available: effectively recreate the list of currently active servers (without any reliable up-to-date info upfront about the inks and number of samples on offer in the thread) from the sequential list of posts, which may be spread over two or even more pages, and then query each server independently to check what is currently on offer.   It comes down to not hav

If one wanted to do this, one could just use the "About Me" field which appears to be unlimited in size.  And if a bunch of people wanted to cooperate, the Member Title field (or signature) could be used to this end - "Ink Giver" (or some such) could be used by those with inks to give...  No software edits required.
