Kwzi Ink - North American Group Buy

So tracking on the ink suggests that I will have it in my grubby paws Friday if Canada Post brings their A-game which has me very very excited and left me with a big question - which pen? This is my first IG ink so I don't know what to expect and don't want a less-than-ideal pairing to ruin my fun.

IG Violet plays nice in something broad - italic or B, I like to use it with Knox BB ;)

IG Blue will show itself in anything broader than XF ;)

What is great in Iron Gall inks is there shading, so you want to use in pen that already has some potential in that matter :)

I have a lot of tape - and I won't hesitate to use it!

Every ink for which we have a swab and at least one page of a review is up.

Huge thanks to Cyber6 and Konrad for putting this together.

The packaging and wrapping was multi-tiered and very thorough. It included

- bubble wrap

- saran wrap

- tape

- foam wrapping around each bottle

- then saran wrap around each bottle

This weekend will be ink sampling and testing. :)

It did take a while, but for my wife and I it was almost like Christmas, unwrapping each one.. "uuuu, look, I bet this blue is going to be extra deep and bright"

I absolutely love how on each bottle there is a small swath of the actual ink color. Every ink maker ought to do that. As I do my own ink sampling and writing I plan to put a sticker on the top of each cap with a swath of color as well.

I stopped by my office today after a business trip that extended into the weekend to find my package waiting patiently for me. The packaging was rather ingenious and extensive !

One bottle out of eight leaked, utterly obliterating the label, but this was wholly contained within the packaging, only becoming apparent when the last black saran-like layer was removed. It wasn't a large loss of containment, and I was able to discern which one it was as it was one of two unique items in the package, the Rafton Green. The packaging was more than adequate to prevent the spill propagating, and so, kudos to the packaging team. A note on leakage - as I live at 7,000+ feet altitude, this is not an unknown phenomenon, and something that can occur even with taped bottle lids.

Alas and alack, I must hold my nose to the grindstone of business for several days, so I won't be able to play with the inks as I might like otherwise.... Still, the anticipation will only make the testing more enjoyable !

Your packing team must be related to GPC too much wrapping and bubble wrap. My knife gotten stuck in one of the layers and the knife was sharp enough to draw blood from light touch. Just need to tape the lid.

What am I smelling in the inks? One was smells like mint candy or icyhot. It smells sweet too and I have the urge to drink some.

Please do not drink ink - I'm afraid that the taste might be not as good as the smell :) It's very likely that diarrhea (I hope this word is not vulgar ;) ) would occur, but you would have to drink quite a lot of it (at least 20 ml - assuming that you weight 80 kg).

We are so used to artificial food that we associate the smell of preservatives and other additives with sweetness :/ that's a pity :(

I think that such amount of wraping is necessary - ink wasn't repacked in US it was just labelled or thrown in flat rate box and was on it's way. I hoped that wrapping in elastic foil would prevent any spillage caused by pressure changes and etc. but next order will be also taped.

It has the sweetness of some toxic chemicals. They lure you to put it in your mouth then switches to you dying slowly. I think like antifreeze.

The packaging was rather special. As I mentioned, living at altitude, even "plastic foil" can't always address the change in pressure from sea level to mountainous. Given that I ordered eight bottles of ink, this was a pretty good level of performance. Given transit across the Atlantic as well as this continent, it's actually darned good.

I did ink up a pen tonight with the red IG. As Amber noted in her review, it goes down with a Skrip Red brightness, but an hour later, I've yet to see any darkening. I'll check in the morning. I will remark that it's a pretty "dry" ink, as so many IGs can be, even in a fairly "wet" nib. I have a lot of editing of reports coming up tomorrow, so the ink will get a solid workover in that time.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
