I wanted to let all of you know that BamaPen (who lists things on FPN in the classifieds) is a pleasure to deal with and makes gorgeous pen boxes! His prices are totally reasonable. I custom ordered one, reusing some artwork that he'd used on another box from his site. The colors are vibrant, and I'm so excited to have such a gorgeous way to keep (most of) my collection.

+1. I've gotten once of his cigar boxes and and ordered another, along with a few extra inserts. John's a great guy to deal with and his products are very well made and very reasonable for the price. Plus, his international shipping rates are awesome!

John (BamaPens) does wonderful work and will design a box to your specifications; he has access to some wonderful cigar boxes and is quite the craftsman. His prices are more than reasonable and his communication is excellent.

 

I have a couple of his pen storage boxes, including this one he made for me per my request for a box that I could use to carry pens to Pen Posse Meetings; you can just see the handle at the top of the first picture:

I have since repurposed a few cigar boxes on my own, nothing as professional looking as John's cigar boxes, but they look nice (IMHO) and they work. I still look at his site for inspiration, and would not hesitate to purchase from him again.

He made a very nice triple decker for me, plus finished out a matching box with similar lining material for ink bottles. I'll post pictures when I get my camera back from a traveling relative. He'll soon be working on one with multiple compartments sized to hold watchstraps and other watch paraphernalia for me.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
