Source For Pelikan M800 Piston Seals?

Evening all. I recently picked up a M800 from the infamous auction site which detailed "pump intact". The pictures showed a user grade pen so I wasn't expecting the world and to be honest I was after teh 14C nib more than anything else.

 

Turns out the piston seal was trapped further up the neck of the pen after having come adrift from the piston rod at some point. I've unassembled the entire pen for a good cleaning (it needs it) and found that the piston seal is no longer circular, it must have been jammed in there for a while. It's flattened on two sides so I doubt it'll even return to it's normal shape again.

 

Does anyone know of a source for replacement or original seals? I had thought of contacting Pelikan directly but thought I'd ask here first.

Yep, I think you're going to have to get with Pelikan... I haven't seen replacement seals available as a part except for the vintage sized ones from David Nishimura.

Greg, Goran at penboard might still have the part. In the same boat as you are in now, I chose to keep my early m800 with 14Ct nib period correct and do the repair myself. I bought the shaft with the seal on it from Goran. If you cannot find his email ID, PM me and I will give it to you.

Thanks for the replies, only just got back in from a weekend away. I eventually contacted the UK Pelikan distributor last week and they've indicated I can send it back for repair to Pelikan, via them, for the small sum of £15. Apparently this should cover everything. I'll be sending it off this week and I'll update here when it gets back. If it doesn't pan out I'll give you a shout Hari.

Just wanted to update this thread with the final outcome. The pen was sent back to Pelikan via Stone Marketing in the UK (excellent customer service) and for the princely sum of £15, for service fee, it had it's piston seal replaced and, from what I can see without removing the piston assembly, also had that assembly fully cleaned. It's now its original shiny brass colour instead of being dulled and stained from the previous leak. I'm more than impressed and a very happy bunny.
