Absolutely Beautiful pens; thank you for sharing the pictures! As far as prices go it is all relative; to many people I spend an incredible amount amount of money on what they call "just a pen". It is something I love and I write with every pen I own at some time or another - although it takes quite a bit of time to get around to all of them. If. I had the dollars to spend on the orange pen - I would do it in a heartbeat because it is an incredible looking pen and I would use it!

 

Call me crazy but if I buy it am I going to use it - really don't care how much it costs - just like the other ones I have! I carry around all the other limited ones, WEs, great Characters at one time or another.

Once again sampanel, thanks for posting the great photos. I have really enjoyed seeing the comparison shots. I am still greatly enamored with the orange version, but it is not a pen I will ever afford!

The 1914 redefines what is a big (and I mean BIG) MB. I'd be curious how it stacks up against some of the old MB safety pens, like the #12...

Beautiful pens indeed. Thanks Sampanel. I wonder whether this is the largest pen ever made by Montblanc. If it is and remains so for a while, the prices might well be justified if only for scarcity value!

Checked with my MB boutique today. MB is having the worldwide roadshow for 1914 but they did not know the schedule. It would be interesting if friends of this forum can keep tracking their whereabouts by posting photos from the countries they spot them :wub:

My understanding, Dubai in October. Sounds far no? Considering it's the No.1 or No.2 flagship store in the world in terms of sales according to them.. Would only mean launch date even further?

Slightly off-topic, but the Heritage collection (based on the 1912 I just got this evening) has a 'special' nib exchange program for 1 year, as opposed to 3 weeks, after purchase.

I like the orange color, but the nib seems like it doesn't match the pen - looks cheap by comparison, to me at least. Lovely photos though!

From the size it seems more like a #12. The photo shows a #10 in coral and a #12 black.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
