Apparently they'll also fit my vintage 140. Even more tempting, although the nib on that one is pretty swell as it is. It's green. Do I need a blue one? (Edit: Not from Richard, I don't. Sold out. Foo.)

The news about Richard shutting down his retail business spooked me into getting some Pelikan nibs, including a 0.6 stub, a factory XF, and one of his Waverly XXF accountant nibs! So I only almost copied your order, benincanada :)

Nice - enjoy ! Love to see a sample of the XXF when it arrives

I helped him pack from an Atlanta show.

I was having to wipe the drool off of the Pel ground nib case. So Many goodies.

Thanks to everyone for your input, I went with a 0.6mm stub from Richard Binder - sample below. I also got an Extra Fine M200 nib.

Sorry for the poor image quality, but here's the XXF:

It's only just a tiny bit more fine than the factory F, unfortunately, but it's still a pleasure to use. It's possible that I lucked out and got a very fine F? I did that comparison quite quickly last night so I'll do another tomorrow or when I get home from work tonight.

I LOOOVE the 0.6 stub, though! (don't judge the fact that it doesn't match this pen, please... I originally wanted it on my M205 but have been goofin around). 0.6 is small enough for me to use for scrap work but still wide enough that I get some nice line variation.

I realize that this is too late for the OP's purpose, and that my pens have nibs much wider than he was interested in, but this seemed like a good place to add a couple of more samples of Richard Binder's work. I took the two pens shown below to the DC SuperShow in August this year and had Richard grind the BB nib of the Pelikan to a cursive italic, and refine the stub nib of the black pen to give it much more line variation than it previously had. He did an outstanding job on both.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
