I do not understand, they are using the Sailor bottles (cheaper) but now they increase the price of the ink... Now is almost $30/bottle from Japan... :roller1:

Supply and demand maybe...?

Many seem to want the Bungbox inks, but few get their hands on them...

The site says they're sold out anyway, regardless of bottle.

Do they ship internationally? I only find a Japanese website (http://bung-box.com/products/detail1898.html)

I would really like Bungbox 4B, I don't care how the bottle looks.

You should give me some tips on how fill a vacuum filler and piston filler pens from these bottles.

They ship worldwide, just not doing it until October. Have a look at the left side of the homepage for a red box with "international shipping" written on it.

I will not buy a $30 ink.

I inquired with Bungbox about the ink price increase 2 weeks or so ago, but got no reply.

[shrugs]

I didn't really expect one--it's a touchy topic, however, not for her, but for the consumer. I imagine the owner didn't want to rile up fans of the line with her justification or situation. No level of explanation will placate every.

Along with the price increase, there are 2 or 3 other major changes coming and the owner is nervous of its reception. I cannot say what the changes are (sorry), but it leads me to believe that it's out of the hands of the owner.

Either way, I'll still buy inks from Bungbox and, it seems, so will others.

They don't deliver, but Atsu can help you with that. He's a point of contact for many FPN members who are after Japan exclusive inks and runs an eBay shop under the name cool_japan (he's reviewed at 100% on eBay). He's well liked and we'll trusted--I'll message you his email.

This is getting to be like the classical recording business. If you see something you want, buy it. It may not be around tomorrow. The loss of pens, inks, and paper is dizzying, and what you say makes a chill run up my spine. I don't feel quite so stupid now for buying much more than I need immediately.

Me, too. I have zero regrets.

Hello,

This may not be totally related to the topic on hand, but while I was browsing a Taiwanese online store I saw these - are these the discontinued, much-coveted old, standard Jentle Sailor ink colors? They seem to have the original-type colored labels and colors not in the current lineup, such as dark blue. Considering that they've been discontinued for a long time, that a seller still has them is remarkable.

Here is the link I happened on: http://www.pcstore.com.tw/pens_store/M04490736.htm

cool japan is great. The guy is great at communicating. The bottle thing is real and he is unable to get a lot of these specialty inks too right now.

Hi--

You had an extra space at the end of your link that was giving me a 404--I took it out in the quote. This is interesting, except that this outfit doesn't appear to ship outside Taiwan. And the orange, which is the one many would want, is shown as being out of stock.

Hello,

Indeed, the yellow orange is out (I'm assuming it's this one :( At first, I thought it would be a precursor to Jentle Apricot, but they look really different. Well, at least the brown's going to keep Visvamitra happy...

As for the Taiwan part, I have close friends in Taiwan who are coming to visit in October, but I accidentally hoarded too much Noodler's inks and am on a self-imposed ink buying moratorium (I'm a broke student, to say the least) until I manage to drain those seemingly bottomless bottles of Noodler's Ottoman Azure :crybaby:

Not at the moment. Their webshop is closed for international business until October. What will happen then, no one seems to know.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
