I just washed my pen... and that's why you see the light (washed out) blue color...

The scan is enhancing the differences of the ink... in real life, with real light..... bot are almost indistinguishable..

Well I still don't understand how this works.... I admit it's true and correct (I've seen it in person too), but how exactly does it work, i.e. how comes a broad nib lays down a line that looks lighter (in saturation / density) than a very fine one (which obviously lays down way less ink)? Is it the same ink quantity (per linear cm) and the broad nib just spreads it in a wider line (more surface)?

Yes..

Fine nibs will lay a darker line than broad nibs. And as I said on my note above... I just washed my pen, so there was some water in the feed... you can see the diluted blue on the alphabet line.

Well, Cyber6, your ink collecting is quite stunning, and Napalm's nibs are quite nice.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
