Waterman Tender Purple

These are my first ink reviews so I'd like to hear all suggestions how to improve them. I've got quite some inks in my collection already (most of them are samples but it's a start) and I will review some more in the future.

My Pens/Nibs (inked/active): Lamy Studio/Vista/Joy (XXF slight-flex custom | 14k EF | EF | F | 14k M | M | B | 14k 1.1 custom | 1.1 | 1.5 | 1.9), TWSBI Diamond 580 (F | Pendleton BadBoy | Zebra G | F.P.R. semi-flex), Pilot Falcon EF, Penkala Vintage 14k semi-flex, Pilot Parallel (2.4 | 3.8 | 6.0)

http://www.fp-ink.info/img/button.pngI'm still looking for help/data/supporters/sponsors for my Ink Database - It already contains over 900 Inks but is still low on data about the inks except on the Inks I got myself or where I found nice data sheets. So Im looking for these: InkSamples mailed to me, Permissions to use InkReviews - preferable by people who have a lot of InkReviews online, InkReviews mailed to me so I can scan them, Sponsors that will help me to finance InkSamples, People willing to trade InkSamples (list of available Inks from me is available via PM request - please include available Inks)

I can't see the "Tender" side of it....

Yes, it's a pretty saturated purple, nothing muted or lightly colored that "tender" would possibly suggest :)

I just bought this ink as well and it is a good choice for one of my pens, as it is the same colour as some of the accents on it.

My theory is that the marketing geniuses that Waterman employed were trying to get you to associate THEIR ink colors with YOUR mood. It's overreaching, though Caran d'Ache has one-upped them in the stupid ink naming contest.

I know my id is "mhosea", but you can call me Mike. It's an old Unix thing.

I can agree with the current Chromatics line, but I think the previous one was named really well. Sadly I have only Blue Sky, although I still could buy the Blue Night and Carbon, but not the other more interesting ones.

Admittedly I like purple inks, but still not see the exact point why would I buy this one... except that is reasonably priced.

So true. Waterman, on the other hand, was a mixed bag. I was never sure about what was "Florida" about "Florida Blue", though "South Sea Blue" was a brilliant name, and "Havana Brown" was evocative.

Purple is all about what sort of "leaning" you like. Waterman Purple is an excellent middle-of-the-road purple, and it is, in fact, my favorite, the only Waterman ink that I really like very much. I'd give it higher lubrication marks than the OP. But there are so many other color "leanings". Montblanc Lavender Purple is much less blue, and darker. Diamine Bilberry is much more blue, and darker. Noodler's North African Violets is more blue and more vibrant (but orders of magnitude more trouble to clean out of pens).

I love purples.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
