Hi everyone

 

New here, and really enjoying looking at everyone's collections. I have four fountain pens, but my favorite is my Waterman. Followed by the Mont Blanc.

 

Anyway, haven't been using them much lately but pulled them out to review and do maintenance and I guess I got over-zealous priming the nib on the Waterman. ;-( I noticed it had a spot that looked bendy, so I was babying it. Until today. and it just snapped off.

 

Been pursing sites looking for nib repair/replacement (but I also am not sure this is a Phileas?). I bought these in the 1990s.

 

Attaching a couple of photos (sorry for the crappy quality ;-). TIA for your help.

Dana- look up "dutchpen", a fellow FPN member , and email him your pictures, he might have Waterman parts, in this case a replacement nib for sale.

An Expert, huh? Well, who knew... It's actually my second one. I had a green one I liked better - the nib was PERFECT - but I dropped the pen out of my car one day and never found it. So I bought that blue one. Never really meshed with the nib on it, but I still liked it.

Yay Wolverine1! - Dutchpen has a nib for my Waterman Expert II - already ordered! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

 

Just fyi - I did a search online for the Expert II, the Acme Leonardo da Vinci and the Montblanc Noblese Oblige. Let's just say I have a renewed appreciation for these pens now. ;-) I have another one, but I must have taken it home from the office. Better look for it...

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
