dneal
So I'm getting ready for my change of load out, and I threw down some blues with a dip pen for a decision. I had a few realizations: 1. Herbin Eclat de Saphir and Pelikan Edelstein Sapphire are so close that there's no reason to spend the extra for the Edelstein.2. Those in the U.S. that wish they had 4001 Blue-Black (for the color) can just use the new formula Montblanc Midnight Blue.3. Quink blue is disappointing. I don't even know why I have a bottle of this stuff.4. So is 4001 Konigsblau/Royal Blue. Just get a bottle of Eclat de Saphir.5. Mysterious Blue and Quink Blue-black are really close (and both made by Newell/Rubbermaid - go figure).6. It's expensive, but Caran d'Ache Idyllic Blue is a more intense Florida/Serenity Blue that doesn't fade. Love it.7. Herbin 1670 Blue Ocean is a really pen dependent ink. It's wet, and makes a lovely dark blue with a wet pen.8. I like De Atramentis more and more. http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa163/roomdog/BlueThoughts001_zpsde890fec.jpg

The Good Captain
R&K Konigsblau is well worth a look as well. The Good Captain "Meddler's 'Salamander' - almost as good as the real thing!"
lapis
Nice comparison.+2. You might also want to compare MB's Royal Blue, GvFC's Cobalt Blue, Levenger's Cobalt, S.T.Dupont's Royal Blue and Blue-Black (= Bleu Nuit which is only available in cartridges), and a handful of Diamines (but only if you love blues and blue-blacks as much as I do).... inkstainedruth
And -- FYI -- Private Reserve Cobalt is danged close in color to Eclat de Saphir....Just sayin'.Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth "It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen." amberleadavis
These look great! Thank you! Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
