To be very honest, I find their bottles promising but once you've gone through the ordeal of getting those caps off the ink is a bit of a disappointment. Although the royal blue is nice, the black is really grey, and the permanent black reminds me more of brown - but the crimson violet was amazing. Popping vibrant and very nice, I only just tried it but it's got potential... So based on a six bottle sample (I had an earlier bottle of royal blue that is very nice, still have some left), I'd say they span a range. Disappointing on the one hand to popping vibrant on the other.

I also tried a single bottle of Bril blue, and that is an amazing ink. Beautifully vibrant blue and dries true to how the color goes on. I would like to see what they do with dark blue, which I usually like more, but their royal blue is fantastic. And if you go by the bottle it's totally unassuming, so took me by surprise...

potential? that sounds a little patronizing given that the ink has been around for four decades………and given the cost!

It is not manufactured anymore. Most of the ink available is probably the last manufactured batch.

Potential: not only will it be vibrant on the page when used by itself - I can see all sorts of mixes it will "lively up". Some with inks it's probably never met before.

The mention of Chelpark ink makes me feel so nostalgic. Its was the first fountain pen ink that I used and I still love it. I have always liked the free flow and saturation of Chelpark Inks (only the Black seems a bit grey). And don't forget their inexpensive nature; a 60 ml bottle can be had for as low as Rs.18 = 0.3 USD. Moreover, since the past few days I have renewed my love for fountain pens and thus have been hunting for these inks. From the information that I have gathered till now, Chelpark Inks were being manufactured by a Bangalore based company called PG Stationery Pvt. Ltd. somewhere till early or mid 2012 and then the manufacturing was stopped. Whatever ink is left in the market is all old stock and soon it will be all gone.

So I have started to buy whatever Chelpark ink I can get hold of and till now have managed to get 11 bottles (3 Washable Royal Blue, 3 Ruby Red, 2 Turquoise Blue, 2 Crimson Violet and 1 Black. No sign of my old favorite Emerald Green till now.

As per the info. on the box, the following inks from Chelpark were/are available:

01. Permanent Black

02. Black

03. Permanent Blue Black

04. Red

05. Ruby Red

06. Crimson Violet

07. Turquoise Blue

08. Sapphire Blue

09. Washable Royal Blue

10. Emerald Green

If anyone knows where to get Emerald Green in NCR region please let me know.

  • 5 months later...

It appears that Chelpark (P G Stationery Pvt Ltd) has resumed manufacturing inks. I have recently collected a couple of Washable Blue ink bottles with date of packaging as 08/2014. The price is 20 INR/bottle. In Kolkata only Blue and Black inks of 2014 batch is available. hari317 confirms in another thread that only these two colours are available in Bangalore as well.

The news is that Chelpark has stopped manufacturing their coloured inks, and are only manufacturing their black and blue ones.

I'm a huge fan of Chelpark inks too, and was so glad to see that love being shared. I had a bottle of their lovely Crimson Violet and Sapphire Blue. Ever since I ran out of it about a year ago I have been hunting for them. Would anyone here have any idea where to buy them in Bombay, or Bangalore?

Sheri, that is a massive collection! I'm happy for you and also envious. : ) Which shops did you buy them from? I'll see if my friends can ship them to me.

Mhguda, you should also try Bril's green. It's bright but has some depth and I think it might lend itself well to blends too.

THanks for the tip, inkyvini. As soon as the opportunity presents itself! I must say, of the Indian inks I have tried, Bril blue is my favorite... But I also very much like Chelpark Crimson Violet, and I find it interesting as it stays in a pen long - it darkens to a deep bluish purple. This seems to happen especially inside my clear transparent barrels, for instance in Oliver Exam or Walitys. Even after adding water to get the ink to flow again, it remains darker than I remember it being when I first filled the pen.

I also collect a bottle of Blue Chelpark ink when I got the news from kb.fpn.

But its kinda dry compare to Camlin ink.

Good for me in few cases when I use cheap quality paper to take notes.

And bad thing its not even permanent ink.....
