Surprise: Ink Wheel That You Will Love...:)

I tried to create an ink wheel. It is not 100% perfect but it at least gives an idea about where each of my inks fall on the color wheel. The original file is in powerpoint format and 10MB. So, posted screencaptures as png files. First picture is the whole wheel. The rest are closeups...the color samples are obtained with a dip pen and the paper is daler rowney sketch paper (100g/m2). You can find more detail on how I obtained the samples with dip pen on my other post "color samples"....let me know what you think and more importantly enjoy... :)

Excellent idea! Thanks!! It's not only the colours themselves but also "where" they can be considered to exist and/or be located or placed.

yes lapis. actually that was how it started. I was trying to figure out how to sort my colors, especially blues and reds. some blues include green tones, black tones, red tones. I could not list them in a one dimensional list. But his two dimensional chart helped a lot. of course the placement of colors on the chart is my estimation since I don't know the exact color combinations in each ink...

Thanks, this looks like it took a lot of effort! If I may ask, why do you have so many colors? Are you an artist?

@ eclectic collector,

I think you asked the best question...the reason why I have collected so many colors is such a crucial and widespread phenomenon that it shows up in almost every aspect of human life...that is greed and obsession. The same feeling drives the rich to hoard so much money that they won't even be able to spend, or to collect multi-million dollar cars, houses that they won't be able to utilize, etc. This is the disease of 21st century, that fuels the growth of capitalism, "pushing" people gently to spend more and more through all sorts of advertisement (mainstream, digital, outdoor, subliminal, etc.). It is a disease, and only the educated and mature spirits are immune to this...This was the real reason.

Another reason for me was (maybe just a lame excuse), I enjoy using different colors for calligraphy, cursive writing, drawing and daily writing. So, given that there are 7-8 major color sets (blacks, blues, cyans, greens, pinks, reds, oranges, etc.), even if you have 3-4 inks from each color set, you will end up with ~30 inks. Then, consider the different brands out there, inks with different shading and sheen qualities, I think it is not so unusual to have ~50 inks. Since I have 102 colors now, the other 52 is totally a result of greed & obsession I guess.

Wow - quite the thorough examination of color and other things. Insightful.

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

As a suggestion, the hex color code of an ink color can also be used, organized from one end of the spectrum to the other linearly, although the wheel is a more visual approach.

In a world where there are no eyes the sun would not be light, and in a world where there were no soft skins rocks would not be hard, nor in a world where there were no muscles would they be heavy. Existence is relationship and you're smack in the middle of it.
