Discounts On Fountain Pens On Amazon

I just noticed that Amazon.com has a bunch of coupons for several different fountain pens right now. It's another one of their limited time coupon offers. The coupons are in addition to any normal discount they have on their pens.

A few of the pens they have on coupon right now are the Pilot Stargazer, Monteverde Invincia Color Fusion, Monteverde Artista Crystal, Monteverde Onetouch Stylus Tool, and others. Like last time, move quick because these sales usually only last a few days.

Here's a link to all of the coupons.

The prices aren't bad but, if you check around with the regular pen sellers online (Goulet, iSell Pens, etc - no affiliation) you will probably find some better prices and the service will be more personal.

Weird. My Stargazer from Amazon purchased less than two weeks ago cost $91.00 without discount--free two day shipping too, with Prime. Today, it's $171.79 ( before a $15 discount). I'm sure others have noticed that in-cart and/or wish-listed items vary in price dramatically as time passes. Mamazon is toying with us.

That's weird. Last night the price was $128 for the Stargazer before the discount. I'm pretty sure that on products sold by Amazon, they use an algorithm based on traffic, search patterns, and other retailer's prices. I've seen prices soar or dive as much as 50% overnight.

The Monteverde's are a good deal though. They are cheaper than Goulet right now, especially when you factor in the free shipping. I can't disagree that you'll get more personal service from Goulet but sometimes saving a few bucks is more important for those of us without money to burn, especially if it isn't an ultra-high-end pen.

You're in luck - we just launched a free shipping promotion for the next few weeks (for US orders only). We also have a few Stargazers on sale with a coupon, too. Sometimes we can be price competitive AND have great service. ;)

On FPGeeks the latest reviewer mentioned that the Stargazer is the same exact pen as -

Pilot NAMIKI Stella 90s F (Fine) nib Jet-Black (JB) Fountain Pen. The "Stella" pen is about 50% the cost of the Pilot Stargazer.

If I were buying a Pilot, I would go for the Stella.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
