Dear FPN Friends,

Good news for all of you who are looking for a bulletproof document ink.

I already did a very popular (HOT) review on De Atramentis document ink Blue.

Down here is the Link to the review

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/263866-de-atramentis-document-ink/

I can now tell you that the following colours will be available (again) soon

De Atramentis Document ink

Blue

Dark Blue (Blue Black)

Black

Turquoise

Magenta

All the inks comply with to the ISO 12757-2 standard which makes the ink suitable for official purposes (Doctors, Lawyers, the notary etc.)

The best news is….

A GREEN document ink is in development!!! :D

These inks will be available on the German and English De Atramentis website soon.

Of Course I will do a review of all the Inks separately. And I will do a handwritten comparison of the 5 document inks as soon as possible. :)

See you soon Peter

I'm very impressed with Document Ink dark blue and intend to buy Document Ink black shortly for those tasks where only black ink will suffice.

When I get time, I'll post my own review to complement yours, Peter. Thanks for your review and for sharing your ongoing dialogue with Dr Jansen.

Hi

I can't find an English De Atramentis website. Can you give a link please.

Thank you

Dear AJ,

Here are the links to the several De Atramentis websites.

The English website. If it accidently appears in German>>> click the Union Jack in the middle left

www.de-atramentis.com

This is the German website.

http://www.tinten-online.de/

Not all of the information of the German Website is on the English version, YET (i.e. the ISO standard of Document Inks)

This is the website of Dr. Jansen and his wife.

http://www.die-tintenmanufaktur.de/seiten/home.htm

There is a lot of Information on this website.

For example there are very interesting article on the History of Ink from the antiquity till now.

It is in German but Dr. Jansen allowed me to translate and publish the articles on FPN.

I have done so with the article Ink History antiquity, it is posted in the ”Inky thoughts” forum

I don’t know if you are interested in History and Ink History too???

If so, down here is the link to the article

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/263795-ink-history;-the-antiquity-and-first-centuries-ad/

My next translation on ink history will be published soon. It will tell about Inks in the middle ages.

There is also a lot of (technical) information on inks here. Unfortunately it is only in German.

But since I am a bit of a polyglot, I speak Dutch, German, English, and a very, very little French (have to work on that). I will be glad to translate the information for you. Simply name me what you are interested in and I will give it my best

I have pasted in some pictures of the website, to make it easier…

Kind regards,

Peter :)

Dear David,

I am looking forward to your review with great interest...

Please be so kind and give notice when you publish it...

I have seen your reply on the DA document ink blue.

Sorry for responding this late...

I told Dr. Jansen that the ISO standard is not on the English website, as like other information.

He is very busy now, but I believe these information will be on the website soon.

I also asked him several questions that he will answer me in the following days.

Did you know he also makes ink made with wines like burgundy, cabernet sauvignon and many more?

The best thing is you can give him a bottle of your favourite red wine and he will make ink out of it :-)

Must do a review on those :-) cheers:-)

I will publish my questions and his answers soon

Regards Peter

@ Morbus Curiositas:

Slightly off topic here, but since you seem to have a dialogue with Dr. Jansen....

I contacted De Atramentis a few months ago, asking whether there was an unscented version of Patchouli, using the contact info on the English version of their website, but never got a response (like the color a whole lot, but hated the really musty odor of the sample).

Do you know (or could possibly find out) if this is a standalone ink or not? I know, from persusing the English language version of the website some of them appear to just be scented versions of their "standard" line of inks, but others (such as Rose) do not appear to be and I was then wondering about Patchouli...).

Thanks in advance.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
