What I really liked was your comparative pics which show Genius to be larger than Airborne. You just allayed my apprehensions. Thanks.

I am glad to hear that the section is comfortable to use as I could hold out no longer and ordered an I Can. Now looking at the comparative photos with the 78G, I may have to order a Genius as well.

Regarding Genius - i found that (unlike Athlete) it takes the Jinhao #6 pretty well. Perhaps it also takes the German made nibs well. And these nibs can be well adjusted within the given dimension of cap. The stock nibs are broader in shoulder. Compared to the stock nib the jinhao and german bock nibs are slender - so can be adjusted for ink flow /wetness /dryness.

And yes the section is very comfortable

And thanks for all the appreciation :-)

Have you ordered Gama Airborne and Galactic with Indian Nib or German nib

Airborne with indian nib & Galactic with taiwanese nib.... Mr. Subramanium assured me they perform at par with the german nibs...

Lucky you (all of you) or maybe I'm just jinxed, I've been waiting for a long time now to get my pens from ASA. So far, it has mostly been me reading all your posts, and hoping that my order will turn up.

Can you give us some detail. You are from India. Orders, when they are not for custom pens turn up in four days. What happened.

Something interesting that is not widely discussed, is that the Pilot steel nibs from the MR/78G type pens fit in the Oliver Tulip. You can have a nice piston filler with an excellent nib for a reasonable price with a Tulip and a 78G.

Agree.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
