Fountainpen.it Aleph

Hi to everyone.

Please let me introduce you the new fountainpen.it pen: Aleph!

Made in cooperation with Marlen, the Aleph has been inspired with the help of the forum's discussions.

The pen has a cool looking springy nib and a classic body shape, making it a traditional-modern pen.

This is a short test of the nib. Enjoy!

The video shows the nib providing flex (and not skipping). This looks really promising and interesting.

Is this a one-of item you built yourself or is is this a new pen that is being manufactured now?

Interesting. I would like to know more about this pen. Where should I look to find more information?

Thank you.

Fantastic job by FP.it team, and it seems esp. Daniele (the OP), who conceived the project and the pen with the people at Marlen.

By the way, thank you again, Daniele! The pen looks gorgeous! Can't wait to receive mine!

For now this pen is reserved to the members of fountain pen.it.

In these days the pens will shipped to subscriber members. And Namo is one of them! ;)

It looks a being a wonderful pen.

Where could we buy it, eventually?

As agreed with, Marlen is free to make a commercial version of this pen.

I don't know when and how.

Daniele.

I now have the pen in hand One word: wahoohoho!!! If you are looking for an awesome Italian writer, don't dismiss that one... I still have to test drive the pen during a couple of long writing sessions, but the design is omprssive, as is the general attention to details, the balance of the pen (posted or not) or the very sober line... The limited FP.it is blue as the one listed on Marlen's site is very, but I am sure the material beauty and quality is the same!

Daniele: this is a great achievement. The pen is not a colored/trimmed version of an existing pen, but a total new design. What a work! Congrats and many thanks to you and to people at Marlen's.

I didn't see the pen in flesh yet, but I'm very intrigued by the nib.

Marlen says it's made in "acciaio armonico", that I'd translate with harmonic steel (or harmonious?) with beautiful indents at sides.

And the feeder is transparent!

Not sure about this bit I think it would translate as "spring steel". It's a semi flex nib and an awesome writer. It's very quick, vivascious on paper, and looks a bit longer than the regular #6 nib (but it might be my imagination). The line variation is very nice, similar IMHO to Waterman Man 100 first generation nibs, although the feeling is totally different.

The pen itself if a wonderful design, slender with a rather long grip section (think Bexley Corona). The balance of the pen is particularly exceptional.

It is advertised as a piston filler but I can't see an ink view window. Can somebody explain?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
