I actually just received my first Nakaya, well actually two Nakayas. One a used Nakaya Naka-ai writer Cigar Toki-tamenuri, and a new Nakaya Portable Cigar Heki-tamenuri. Timing worked thay arrived at the same time.

What is that black contraption on the left? Don't remember having those in my Nakaya set. Some kind of adapter for intl cartridges?

 

 

Yes, cartridge adapter for standard intl.

My first Nakaya...Portable Cigar in Kuro-tamenuri with pink gold nib. It is a Medium ground to a stub. I am in love!!!

 

Classic beauty. I have the same pen with a yellow gold nib, a BB ground to cursive italic. Placing the pen on that tray really shows the pinkness of the pink gold dramatically. Hmmmm ... Or is the nib stained with red ink?

It actually looks more pink in this pic. In real life it is subtle but beautiful! It is not the ink although I do have it inked with Diamine Oxblood.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
