Diamine Syrah-Handwritten Review (Apologies To Mhphoto)

Oh, and I'm producing a low cost, high performance flex pen, and need your input! Do you love flex? Please, if you haven't seen it already, complete this survey for one of seven chances to win a prototype!

I had a sample of Diamine Syrah rattling around for ages. When I first tried it, I used it in a Leuchtturm1917, and a Lamy fine nib, and I was blown away, I was in love. A few days later I tried it in a Lamy broad, and I was…underwhelmed. I decided to do a thorough review in the hopes that I could make up my mind at last over whether I should invest in a bottle.

This is me messing around with my Waterman frankenpen on some Tomoe River Paper with Syrah.post-101589-0-84173300-1395887152_thumb.jpg

Here are couple more close up pics so you can see the sheen and how it lays down on the paper. post-101589-0-65430500-1395887463_thumb.jpgpost-101589-0-65200200-1395887467_thumb.jpg

You have very nice handwriting. The ink looks nice with the Tomoe River paper.

So... What did you decide? It certainly looks great with the sheen, but I guess that dries up...?

I hate to be biased, but I think I'm going to let it slide! The sheen is good, but you need a heavy line, and like I said, I keep going hot and cold on it. Sometimes it's terrific, sometimes it lets me down. If it were a woman, I'd break up with her. Good thing I only bought a sample bottle. Hollaaaaaaa!!

Syrah looks like it's just (by a hair) missing something, or just barely off center - just not quite right by a fraction. Diamine Oxblood, to me, gets it perfect. BTW, I concur - beautiful handwriting.

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

very nice review--thanks for sharing!

"Writing is 1/3 nib width & flex, 1/3 paper and 1/3 ink. In that order."Bo Bo Olson

"No one needs to rotate a pen while using an oblique, in fact, that's against the whole concept of an oblique, which is to give you shading without any special effort."Professor Propas, 24 December 2010

"IMHO, the only advantage of the 149 is increased girth if needed, increased gold if wanted and increased prestige if perceived. I have three, but hardly ever use them. After all, they hold the same amount of ink as a 146."FredRydr, 12 March 2015

"Surely half the pleasure of life is sardonic comment on the passing show."Sir Peter Strawson

@Ruaidhri This was an absolutely wonderful bit of writing, and I hope that you're able to maintain the style once all of the medications are out of your system.  Take care and recover quickly!

These comments make me sad as I sympathise with Ruaidhri, having great difficulties in being taken seriously. Or being taken at all (no off-colors jokes, please!) In spite of overwhelming odds,  Ruaidhri -now I know how to spell it- made a courageous decision and stuck to it. I was diagnosed with a similar growth in a place I will not reveal. Oh, well, if you insist it was Mount Sinai Hospital. But I firmly intend to walk in Ruaidhri's footsteps, if he will let me, on my next visit to Dublin.

Reminds me of the day my associates and I developed a cure for all mankind's ills and mistakenly wrote it down with invisible ink.

Was that the end of the Laboratory? Somehow the exactitude created a fully destructive device, as always!
