Here is my first Pelikan I purchased it from Rick Propas. A real nice guy to deal with. A first generation 1987 black M800 with 14C OBB nib. I actually wanted O3B but price was little bit out of my price range so I settled for OBB. The nib has some nice flex and really smooth. The pen, however is currently installed with 14C EF nib I purchased three years ago and had it modified by John Mottishaw for extra flex. I prefer larger pens so 800 is perfect size.

By right you should consider m800 series pen due to fact that lamy safari is same size as m800.

 

However, congratulate that you purchase the m605 marine blue, it is a beautiful pen with uniform nibs tone with the trim.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
