Pretty pen.

I like clips on mine.

I like the looks of the old style ripple pens now made in India...

I know I'm a bit late to the party on this one, but I'd just like everyone to know that if you are thinking of buying a Ranga, but have reservations, I have bought two Rangas from Sh. Kandan jee, a slim green rippled ED and a larger brown rippled Duofold lookalike ED.

Both pens are extremely classy to look at and are lightweight and comfortable in use - I could write with them for hours. The green slim one wrote perfectly straight out of the box, and the Duofold just needed a tiny bit of nibwork to get the flow and feel how I like it - now it writes like a dream.

Personally, I'm really taken with the fact that I'm writing with a one off pen, handmade by dedicated pen maker over there on the Sub COntinent.

Ranga pens also provide excellent customer service - to a standard long gone here in the West.

Sorry to bang on...I'll get my coat.

I might be old, but at least I got to see all the best Bands.

Thanks for posting your experiences

I've only just bought a Pelikan M400 but mpkandan was kind enough to PM me the prices of this model and for around £42 for the aerometric version I'm thinking this might be my next pen. I'm a little wary of Indian nibs as the few I've tried have not been great but as you said the idea of a one off handmade pen is really appealing :)

We are really intrigued by this new Ranga ebonite color! This photo against a lighter background will give you a better idea of the color.

but they have got to come up with a better name than Yellowished Olive with Pink Ripple!

Maybe "red olive ripple"?

Awesome ebonite, Mr Kandan! More crazy colors, please.

Rhubarb. Really, it totally reminds me of rhubarb. I like it. (Rhubarb and the ebonite colour)

Good points. I did not expect olive and pink to be attractive, but it is. Nice work.

Don't you wish we could use our pens to write on the Fountain Pen Network Fora?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
