Hm, these pictures really make me reevaluate the decapod twist, which I wrote off a long time ago, as most pictures don't seem to represent them as well as yours do

Utterly beautiful, thanks for sharing those pictures. No 2 on my wish list!

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

What a beautiful set of fountain pens. In the best sense of the word, I envy your collection. Is it too much to ask for a picture of them and some hand writing?

Enjoy those beauties and thanks for sharing them

I don't usually post a writing sample because my handwriting lets the side down so badly, but here you go...

The short Danitrio Octagon isn't inked so I haven't included it.

You chose a great looking pen! I love how softly it curves, it makes the standard decapod look a little harsh. And the cool colors really match the geometric shape well.

I now have three Nakaya's on my wishlist: the Naka-Ai Aka-tamenuri, this one and the Naka-Ai Milky Way. Still being a student, it'll probably be years until I'll be able to afford one. Why did I choose something that takes seven years before making any money at all again? (Nah, kidding, being a doctor has been my dream since I was ten.) Maybe if I start saving up right now. Hmm… What are you making me do, FPN?!

The review is wonderful, the photography fantastic and the pens simply stunning. I do quite a bit of photography in my profession and want to assure you that your images are very well done and far from ordinary.

Two words: subtly sexy. Great photos, thanks. Definitely love the look of the twisting facets, much more interesting than straight lines, and the color combination.. a real work of art.

I can definitely see the allure of Nakaya's.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
