Kristina,

Your words must have been the magic charm. After over a month of no activity, and me having stopped checking, a package arrived today with my ink!!

Hey, that's great! Mine arrived in the mail today too...happily, at long last. Not so happy about getting the neighbor's cable bill too...

Thanks for posting your photo! I've seen several samples of the Yama-dori now and each adds something more to the discussion.

I thought some of you might be interested to know that eBay seller cool-japan has Yama Dori in stock again! He sent me an invoice earlier today letting me know they are back in stock. I'm not sure how many he has or how long they'll be in stock.

Mine is hopefully flying from Japan to England

I'm currently waiting for a Pilot pen and the Sailor Yama-dori, both from Japan. I wonder which will arrive first

These inks were released before I even got into fountain pens (which was in Q4 of 2012, I believe). That being the case, I'm immensely happy that these are now regular production inks; I picked up a bottle of Souten a few hours ago, and it's an AMAZING blue ink with drastic shading, nice character, and impressive sheen. I'll be wanting several bottles of this, methinks :P

Cheers!

Kevin

My Yama Dori and Shigure were deli tre yesterday from La Couronne du Comte! I'm thrilled with both the ink and the service!

My bottle of Yama - Dori from Atsu has eventually arrived. It took an unusual time to clear customs for some reason but in the I got it. I tried it with a 1.9 italic... Impressive shading, reddish hues. Not as remarkable with the smaller nibs that I usually use but still very nicely behaved. I will try it with a superflex and see what happens :)

Apparently, a bunch of Sailor's are gonna be discontinued soon, including Grenade, Epinard, and Sky High. I guess they had to make room for the others :/

That's interesting news, can you share your source or post a link?

Yeah, what's up? I looked over at sailorshop.jp and they didn't have any of the current colors other than black, blue-black, and blue listed.

then I guess Sailor's main ink line now are the 4 season? mmm since Epinard and Tokiwa Matsu look the ame and Sky High and Souten are somewhat similar and they are priced the same so... chances that Kin-Mokusei will be replacing Apricot? Grenade and Oku-Yama are almost the same huh... coincidence?

hmm ok they will be reintroducing the previously discontinued inks looks like the 16 colors will change... Peach would probably be replaced by Sakura if that is the case well... that I'm not particularly sure but I think this is where Sailor is heading

But close isn't same! Darn you Sailor! They're killing two of my favorite colors of all time! Grrrrrrr......

My source was the FPN-Philippines forum, where I'm semi-active. One Ms. Cindy, who is usually in the know regarding these things, was the one who brought this to attention, having received the news from Sailor. She's affiliated with Scribe Writing Essentials, a shop Filipino FP enthusiasts would be familiar with. This was an advisory from the shop itself on the FPN-P Facebook page, so I'm strongly inclined go believe it. I'm just as annoyed as everyone else, but at least Shigure and Souten survive :/

Sorry to be the bearer of horrible news.

Kevin

Edit:

Rechecked the post, didn't actually say that Sailor was the one who contacted Ms. Cindy. Still, extremely unlikely that she'd just make this up or say something without definitive proof.

Hm. I might get a couple more backups from the current line, but if more of the seasonals are gonna come back—including Sakura-mori, which I have never been able to find—then it's a decent trade. Especially if they re-release Rikyu-cha so I can get another bottle of it!

In other words the line that is/was on the market now. Interesting. Three I know and love...so I'm now expected to investigate the newer inks coming out for possible replacements? Sigh! Fortunately I've seen the comparisons of the LEs or what-were-extinct-but-aren't-now, with the mainstream or were-but-will-be-extinct (or will they?) inks; yet, I wonder, why does Sailor bother? Ah yes, the pricing game.... :wallbash:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
