**update** Return Of Sailor Limited Edition Inks

I emailed a couple of US retailers that carry Sailor products (JetPens and iSellPens) to see if they are planning on adding these inks to their stores. JetPens said they'd think about it, Todd at iSellPens said he can only sell them if his distributor starts stocking them, and the ETA is unknown. (I have no affiliation with either retailer, I am just a customer hungry for ink!)

Ooooh. I will email JetPens too so that they know many people would be interested.

I asked engeika if they would stock them but he said that they dont have them yet, which sounds hopeful! However as I was too impatient for the Yamadori I have already ordered one bottle from cool-japan! Thank you so much for telling us about these. I have been trawling the net the past years to get some Yamadori!!

Wish list: Aurora Optima

Current inked Pens: Pilot Decimo - Noodlers BBH, MB Mozart - MB Lavender

Pelikan M150 - Noodlers Kung te Cheng

I've sent atsu a message through his eBay account. We'll see what happens. I would prefer not to deal with Rakuten or deal with a Japanese only language site. We'll see how he responds.

Atsu replied to me. He will not be selling these through his eBay store.

He asked me to send him my PayPal address, and then he sent me an invoice for $24.99 including shipping .

One bottle of yama-dori heading my way soon.

I am PSYCHED!

This is VERY exciting....that Sailor would bring back limited editions as perms! I am very impatient to try the fabled Yama-Dori and have not seen any reviews for Shigure. Not familiar with Tokiwa-matsu (but will look it up).

HOWEVER, wasn't there a Sailor ink which was a blue-black which shaded like mad and had a sheen? Am I dreaming about it? I know I saw a review of this one and it's off the market now. I have searched the reviews but have not found reference to it. Am I just dreaming about this one? I thought it might be Yama-Dori but I don't remember it as being that turquoise.

Is this the blue-black you're thinking of?

Tokiwa-matsu - it is one of my older reviews, so the format is different and the paper is too, but among all the pictures I took, you should get an idea of that it looks like.

I haven't done a review of Shigure, but here are a few snapshots.

Wow! Sakia, you hit the ball out of the park! Now I will have to get them all. Yama-Dori was probably the ink I was thinking about, and it can look less green I think under some circumstances and on some papers. High shader though, very high. So....it automatically makes my list. Tokiwa-Matsu is outrageous, must have...it's all things in one green and the color is perfect! Shigure is a great color and great shade. I can see a trip to the Poor House in my future. However, I can write nice thank-you notes!

Here are my two main Yama-dori pictures.

This one is in a Sheaffer S5 triumph nib.

YUP! It's definitely my favourite ink! :D

This has shown me that Iclearly need to do a review of Shigure.

Hang it all, Saskia....those were indeed the VERY images of which I was thinking!!!!! Thanks...definately happy about Yama-Dori!!! When I get mine, I want to do a comparison with Akkerman Shocking Blue (which shades and sheens very well as well). Looks from your photos that Yama-Dori is even more extreme.

Edited to add: I now see the last statement before mine....great minds, you know.

I have received a ton of emails from you guys asking about these inks and this is exciting news.

We will be selling these inks as soon as we can get them.

I confirmed they are coming to the USA, but they have not ETA yet.

Best Regards,

Todd

I've ordered Yama-dori and Shigure from Atsu.

I was thinking about getting two of the Yama-dori, but as these all get into regular production, hopefully I'll be able to get more later.

Hmm--- is it just me or that Yama-dori looks similar to Pilot Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku? I'm curious since I already own Ku-Jaku but found it to be too wet for my handwriting. I look forward to the released colors in USA =)

Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
