Waterman 512(V?) Psf 14K Overlay And Cap Repair

I put the V in question marks because I am not sure if I am just seeing things. I looked at the butt of the pen with my loupe and in between the number 512 and the letters PSF appears to be a big "V". Is this where the V would be if this were a 512V? Hope it isn't just an odd scratch.

I am in need of an original cap clip for this pen and I also need to find out the best place to take/send the cap to have the new cap put in place and also have the cap opening made round again. It is just slightly out of round. Not enough to completely disrupt screwing it in. My issue is purely cosmetic on that one. Any leeds of where to go for this?

sorry i dont have a clue about the clip cap, however would it be possible to post a picture of this 'V' for us to see please? it could be a type of mark left there perhaps? or as you say, it may be a partial 'W' logo but i doubt it would have rubbed over...

Can you post a picture of the cap showing the rivet holes and of the end showing the 'out of round'.

Kirchh is among the best with metal work, I do not know if he does Waterman clip replacment but I'm sure he could if he wanted to.

This will not be a low cost repair.

Here you go. It is only slightly out of round but enough to be visible. It doesn't really bother how well the cap screws on luckily.

Might anyone know what the threads inside the cap are made of? A jeweler friend of mine gave me a suggestion on how to make the cap around again but before I do I wanted to see if I could find an answer to my question first.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
