Help Me Identify This Cross Inkwell!

Hi fellow FPN'ers,

Does anyone of you guys know what kind of model this Cross inkwell is, and probably the history?

I think the cap is made of 18ct (14ct?) gold and the bottle of glass (?)

The weight of the inkwell is 700 grams, so very heavy!

The inkwell had a price tag of 395 euro and was found in a closet in our office, nobody knows how its ended up there!

Thanks for the comments!

Hi. Can't help you there. But it is a lovely specimen.

I doubt the cap is made of 18 or 14 ct gold, as gold is way too soft. More likely gold plated. The shape is not right for gold filled, I would say. Cross had/has many gold plated pens, so it's likely they did the same to that cap.

Hi,

I just received an email of Cross Benelux.

They told me that the inkwell must be produced around 1990 by the people that were responsible of the Cross sales in the Benelux!

So it was a Benelux special edition inkwell, or something like that.

The people in the USA and the UK didn't even know that such a inkwell existed!

Hi, you might want to check the cap for a hallmark...if it was a solid gold cap, a hallmark would be present either on the side or under the cap.

can you add or a scale next to inkwell, so we can appreciate the size.

very special inkwell indeed.

Hi,

I think I have the same one, very heavy and nice!

Maybe if it's that collectable I’m curious what it would be worth..

see pictures (also to indicate the size)
