What Is Your Opinion Of The Mb 146 Doue 75Th Rose Gold?

So I am also looking for a 146 limited rose gold doue, but was curious to see what the more astute fp aficionados think of this pen. Is is overkill having a silver cap over a resin body? I would think the resin body is easier to write with as opposed to an all silver body which i have found to be WAY TOO expensive for my taste. :yikes:

Even if I could throw down that kind of bling, I think I would shoot myself before I did. Opinions on the Doue would be appreciated. Is it overkill and I should just stick with an all resin body? I know to each his/her own, but it never hurts to get a few opinions. Thanks!

:D

Not a rose gold Doue, but I really like my 146 Doue. Sterling over resin isn't overkill to me....

I love the look of the doue, but I'm partial being the owner of a 162 75th anniversary roller ball with the sterling silver cap and rose gold trim. Fact is however that the plain resin versions are much more sought after and retain better resale value. So if it's an investment your after I'd advice against it. If not, buy whatever sings to you. The pen is stunning, and contrary to it's full resin counterpart there are still a few available on the market at a reasonable price.

I'm including a link that shows the full range of pens to wetten your appetite.

Good luck with the hunt.

The sterling silver cap may need more maintenance for it to remain "clean" and shiny. Sterling tends to stain too. On the looks department, having a silver on black body tends to make the MB look a little less "classier" IMO. I would personally go for an all black resin. If you're really into sterling, might wanna go for the solitaire. But that's just my opinion.

Yea, I guess I see your point. Either all resin or all silver in my opinion. Just makes sense.

Not a fan of any of the Doues. I get the idea, but I like the cap and body to be the same material.

Maybe old fashioned of me, but I'd be going for all resin or all silver (or whichever material you're fancing)

Each to their own, though.

Good luck.

Thank you and yes I agree with you after giving it some thought. A uniform body of resin or of silver is much more appealing.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
