Suggestions On A Purple Ink Please!

Found Mata Hari's Cordial to be cranky in my 580 (EF). Also found it to be more of a "rose" than an actual purple. Was searching for highlighter suitable inks for some of our office folks (why yellow just won't work, I don't know). Also how I wound up with a bottle of Noodler's Dragon Catfish Pink, a.k.a. Pepto in a pen.

There is BSiAR, which is more burgundy than purple. Very, very dry ink though.

The Good Captain

I've also got 4001 Violet inked up at present and it's a wonderful ink. Other favourites are Diamine Lavender and Violet and I will be getting round to the Cult Pens Deep Dark Purple - soon.

Thanks for the brilliant suggestions all! I went for a search down at the local B&M store and the assistant there showed me quite a number of the inks suggested above. I'm giving the Pelikan Violet a run at the moment and must say that I'm really warming to it!

Thanks again everyone :D

A good choice. I've been using it for years, it's a great ink. Not waterproof at all, though, just so you're aware.

I know you already picked one out but in the future you should try PR Plum and J. Herbin Violette Pensee. Both behave brilliantly for me and the colors are gorgeous!

Got some samples for Christmas and the purples I like are R&K Scabiosa (really want a bottle of this one), Private Reserve Plum and Noodler's Purple Martin.

+1 for MontBlanc Lavender Purple and Yama Budo for reddish purple.

J. Herbin Violent Pensee for "true purple" that I think of.

How about North African Violet?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I love PR Tanzanite. I actually dislike the colour purple, but it has its uses. And, Tanzanite has an extra utility: if one of my pens is a dry writer, I just put some Tanzanite in there and it's just like normal. So, it's a saviour for dry pens AND purple.

Oh wait, one more thing. It has a golden sheen.

Diamine Imperial Purple, that's my favorite purple from collection. Also have the J. Herbin Violette Pensée and Pussiéere de Lune as well Larmes de Cassis, but still I would choose Imperial Purple. Pussiéere de Lune is darker, sometimes on some paper have a grayish tone, looks good, I like it. Violette Pensée is more closer to violet color than true purple. Larmes de Cassis also looks good. I have some ink swabs, sadly I cant find them, if I will find them, I will post it.

My personal favorite is Namiki Iroshizuku Murasaki Shikibu. It's a very purple purple and I love the name :) PR tanzanite is great as well, but when dry, it looks almost blue.

I use Diamine Imperial Purple and PR Tanzanite. I tried the Pellikan 4001 Violet, but it was too transparent for me. It disappeared on my ivory paper.
